I have a friend that was at work one day and she got this horrible headache and then her face and left side was paralyzed. She couldn't move anything. They rushed her to the Hospital and they tried to do a Spinal Tap but they did not recover any Fluid. Actually the Dr wasn't good at it she says. She had a CAT Scan done to see if she had an Anurism but that came back negative. She is scheduled to have an MRI this week. She says she still has the headache but the feeling came back in her face, her blood pressure is still too low and she is losing a lot of weight. Actually I remember her losing the weight before this ever happened. Does this sound like a stroke to anyone? She is very young, in her early 20's. Does a Stroke have any discrimintation on age? I know this has been a rough year for her. She lost someone she loved very much this past fall and she is has been under a lot of stress. Any help would be great? Thanks

It could of been possibly a stroke, but for the feeling and movement to come back so quickly it'd be difficult to say. She should definitely have more information w/ an MRI. She should have her blood pressured monitored perhaps due to her stress that may play a factor.
Good luck to her!

NicoleMiller999,
I agree with bullun about your friend. I am not medically qualified, but a stroke seems unlikely, even though young people can have strokes. She seems to be getting appropriate medical investigation, so you can be assured on that factor. I too wish her all the best, but look after yourself too.

Actually it does sound very much like what my late husband described, though he was about 60 at the time, and his was obviously milder. He was on a business flight, got sick, vomited, and had a temporary mild partial paralysis, as he explained it. They had to transfer him between planes in a wheelchair. When he got to his destination, he had to be helped to his motel room. I don't know if anyone suggested the possibility of a stroke, but he didn't know anything about it, and he never went to a doctor. By the next day, he had recovered sufficiently to go to the meeting. It wasn't until years later when he had an MRI for other reasons that we learned that there was evidence of an old mild stroke. In thinking back, we reached the conclusion that the above experience was when it must have happened.
But as the others have said, your friend is getting medical attention, and whether it was a stroke or something else, it sounds like they are on the way to determining the cause of the problems.
