I have tried so many; and they seem to melt off or just fade away. I like to wear a little powder to set my makeup, but I want staying power!!!! Any suggestions? I have normal/oily skin. Thanks for your help
take care, Kathlene

Maybe the problem is that you tend to have oily skin. You could try one of those face cleanser's that dissolves oil. I recommend Noxema Triple Clean. If you don't think the oil is the problem, then look for a foundation for oily skin that stays put all day. Even if your skin isn't that bad, foundation for oily skin will be drier than the others. Everfresh is a good brand and I've heard Face Finity works for some people. Then cover it with a powder. I use Covergirl, but I think any brand would do.

I had the same problem and I would end up putting on too much make up because of this. Noxema and Everfresh have been the only two things that work for me.

I like TRUCCO it is A proffessional make up and can be found in beauty supply stores it covers so good and you have to wash it off to remove it- it works wonders

I've always been partial to the Clinique line. Their "Clarifying" foundation is wonderful for oily skin. It's medium to heavy coverage, and can be layered accordingly. It dries fairly quickly to a nice matte finish, so it has to be blended right away.

I use Estee Lauder's Double Matte foundation and powder. It has been the best one that I have used, and I have used alot! I have really oily skin and most foundations just wear off, but not double matte. I've tried clinique's clarifying and found its much too cakey. Drugstore foundation just doesn't stay on my face either.

Double matte works really well if your skin is oily, but recently I've been going through a bout of dry scaleyness on my face, which makes double matte hard to use. when this happens, I use Clinique's superfit, which is pretty nice when skin isn't oily.
Double matte is expensive, but its been worth it for me.

Good luck

Ahh..Okay you guys help me. I need like spot coverage, because I recently broke out a little and definitely need coverage to cover red marks. What's good for this? Concealer? If so, what kind? I really need some type of staying power also. By the way, I have a yellow complexion I guess you could say, so what's good for this b/c nothing ever seems to match my skintone! It's either too light or too dark. There's never an inbetween with me.

Diva:

Yup, it sounds like concealer is what you need! For extra-heavy spot coverage geared toward pimples, I'd suggest an oil-free stick concealer as opposed to a liquid. Try a department store beauty counter to help with a match, finances willing. Otherwise, maybe try mixing two shades from a drugstore? It should be okay if concealer is a shade or two too light, as you can blend briefly and then set with powder, which will reduce a lot of color differentiation.

Try Prescriptives in a dept. store. They will match your skin color to a specific shade. I'm pretty sure they have a foundation w/ some "staying power". Also, there is a company call Faye Mendelsohn Cosmetics in Maryland. She does have outlets in other states, but I dont know which ones. She sells her line either online or out of beauty salons. I believe the website is fayemendelsohn.com or if thats not it, do a search on google w/ her name and see what comes up... i know its there somewhere. Anyway, she custom blends foundation. Her line is excellent, I have used it.

I like Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation. I have combo skin and it works well.

I use Max Factor's Lasting Performance mostly, which stays on great! I touch up w/ compact powder a few times a day, too. I also like that new L'Oreal Ideal Balance, but I don't know how well it would work on really oily skin.

Dermablend is a really good cosmetic line. They're foundation has really good coverage and it stays on all day. Also they have the setting powder which works really well. They're not very expensive either. You should give it a try. It covers up even the worse imperfections without weighing you down.

i've been using trish mcovoy foundation oil free which apparently they are discontinuing and making a new one in a sheerer form. i also use nu skin concealer for spots. another thing u could consider is using something that sucks up oil before you put on your foundation like a product from smashbox called anti shine. just some suggestions

You sound like me. I've got combination/normal to oily skin. I have tried them all. And even though I have like alot of them, it seems like eventually I have to change to something else because I am not getting the same good results that I had gotten in the beginning. However, right now I am using Cornsilk (Shine Free) Foundation and also the translucent powder. I also use their skin brightening powder just to highlight and to give me a dewy look. I find it works really well. I never look or feel greasy with this product. VERY INEXPENSIVE TOO! Nice change from $48.00 for Chanel powder that I had been using right before this. Good luck in finding something that works for you...seems like you've got lots of advise to work off of here.

Here's a little trick I learned a long time ago..Dust your face with powder BEFORE you apply the liquid foundation. If you apply the foundation to shiny, oily skin, it just eventually slides right off. The powder gives something for your foundation to grab on to.

Two words for you "DOUBLE WEAR". It is made by estee lauder and if you don't want to see a pore this will be the foundation to use.
