View Full Version : Don't know much about heart things...

Recently, I've been feeling kind of odd (it isn't pain, it's more like an odd pressure) in the chest area so I headed to my doctors for a quick check up. I figured if something was terribly wrong, he could at least tell by listening to my heart and checking my pressure. He did so, and everything sounded normal and my blood pressure was just a LITTLE over normal, but in no way near the dangerous level (he accounted the stress I've been under as the cause as well as my overweight status).

I had a physical signed up for soon anyway (because I'm going on a diet and want to make sure everything is okay before I do so) and I was wondering...is there a risk of heart attack without high blood pressure? I've never had high cholesterol so if I do now, it's only been about a year and a half since it's developed as my last physical came up with no problem in that area.

I have a feeling that the weird feeling is due to both my overweight status and also just the huge amount of stress I've put myself through. I'm just not really too informed about heart related issues and just sort of wanted to know.

Yes, if one has a bad heart valve.

Yes indeed,
High blood pressure is only ONE risk factor for a future heart attack.
