My boyfriend had 2 bulging discs in his neck dissected in March of this year. He has had no relief and is in chronic pain. I have been doing a lot of research and keep reading about White Willow Bark as an anti-inflammatory -
Does anyone use this, and can you take it while taking Celebrex? I read on the internet that it shouldn't be taken if you are on NSAIDs but I am not sure if Celebrex is an NSAID.
I'm trying to find anything, anything at all that will help him with his pain. It has been over 1 year and he is going nuts from this....

I think willow bark is what they make aspirin from. Natures aspirin. that said, can you take aspirin with celebrex? I would ask a pharmacist. They would know. Look up white willow bark and aspirin on web to see because I'm pretty sure that's what aspirin is derived from. good you thought to ask that question.

I take willow bark for the pain killing effect. I don't take any NSAIDs, they don't help me. Celebrex is a NSAID.

After I posted I did find something say you couldn't take the two together. That's unfortunate. He's in so much pain and it's constant - he's been on celebrex, for I think 3 weeks now. It's so hard to watch him be in this much pain when we thought the surgery/removal of the discs was going to be the answer and that he'd get some relief.
greensky, do you find the white willow is helping you with the pain? How much do you take?

Have you tried Neurontin?

He is on neurontin and celebrex. Has been since the surgery (the neurontin that is). It isn't doing anything, or at least it doesn't seem to. (he takes (2) 300mg at night).
He has become so sad and desperate I wonder if it is contributing to his "bad" thoughts. There are so many layers to this kind of pain, I'm sure it wouldn't take meds to make him depressed. I read what you all are going thru and I can't imagine. I can only do what I can, which is to read and research and try and find him help.

It does help a bit, however it is only a mild pain killer. I take between 2 and 5 x 400mg 3 times a day. I have also tried as a tea witch is actually quite nice. One teaspoon per cup and in boiling water for 10 minutes. If you want it stronger let it soak in the water for 2-4 hours or overnight and then boil for 10 minutes. 3 cups per day.
White willow is similar to asprin, it is a bit milder and slower to work, but longer lasting.

Thanks greensky. I will try and find out if he can take it with celebrex. The tea sounds like it might be more mellow. Also looking to see if Gaba can be taken with cele/neurontin as well.
