(don't know my status yet)
i've been sick for over a month now, it first started out with aches in my upper abdominal muscles and chest, then after a week of that continued into a virus where my throat (not hurting) felt like i had to swollow something everytime. (i have bad allergies)

Then after a few more days my tongue began to lose all of the papallia on the left side, i typically have had geographic tongue in the past, and the docter thought that's what it was right away as well. On the front of my tongue, on both sides of the tongue i have a white outline like a line going from the top, down the side, to the bottem of the tongue, it's not big, but in the morning it's typically white, and as i eat something or drink something it turns back to a normal tongue color, almost impossible to see the line unless you look very closely (one seems to be getting better). I also noticed just recently that the area's where the white bump like line shows up rests directly in the crevices of my teeth, possibly the reason? It also has a slightly raised feeling to it, kind of like how a canker sore would feel like, but this isn't a canker sore.

I went to see a eyes nose and throat docter who put me on nystotin i think it is called for oral thrush, he wasn't quite sure that's what it was but he wanted to see if it worked, it seems to have gotten rid of a lot of the signs on the front of my tongue after 5 days, but it's not completely gone yet and i only have 2 more days left on the prescription.

For the past week or so i've also been getting very weak and light headed at exactly 3:30 p.m. central time, and it can last up until 11:00 p.m. or later. This is also the time frame my fever goes from the normal range to the 99.0 to 99.5 range. My throat also was hurting for a while but is seemingly getting better although it's a bit red with the tonsils red as well.

My main concern now is this lightheaded feeling i get for the few hours a day, because in the morning i am seemingly normal besides the few minor aches and pains i've had, and at night i return to normal.

I've only had 1 sexual encounter with someone i am almost sure has never been with anyone but me, this was also only 5-6 months ago that this had happened. We also used protection. I did have it right on her area, but never entered, i did feel that she was moist though not sure if it's possible to get anything like that (without the condom).

I'm very confused about all this because a lot of the symptoms tie in with the hiv virus.

The thrush on my tongue might be explained by the fact that i am a diabetic, but it seems to be healing very slowly, if at all, if it is in fact thrush.

I'd also like to note that i have had a esophogitus scope thing done to check my esophogus and stomach, which came back perfectly normal, as well as a upper abdominal test which also came back normal, and a check down my throat with one of the docters which said all he saw was some nasal drainage from my allergies. I had a mono test the 2nd week of illness which also came back negative with no sign of anything abnormal in the blood.

I've also had this ranging low grade temperature from 96.5 in the morning to 99.0-99.5 in the later afternoon back to 97 at night. It's persisted for 2-3 weeks now. (not sure if allergies has anything to do with it)

The relaxed state my mind gets to also makes it nearly impossible to be around people, i just feel so uncomfortable and need to leave. It seems to mainly effect me when my temperature reaches 98.5 or higher (i typically have a low temperature)

Another symptom i've had is that it feels as though i always need to take a deep breath and cannot accomplish it, which if i were to worry would send me into hyperventelation (luckily i am able to calm myself without going that far)

I had very dry mouth the third week of the illness which pretty much went away, but is returning now that my geographic tongue is forming on the left side of my tongue again (not nearly as bad).

I am really worrying about this extreme lightheadedness since from about 2-3 p.m. and on i can do absolutely nothing except veg by the tv or sit at the computer, going outside feels good but it feels like i'll fall over or something

Any information would be greatly appreciated

I think you are suffering from acute anxiety and this is not to be taken lightly. Last year I contracted Herpes from my ( ex fiancee )...and given the fact that it was such a shock to me, not to mention that I got a very severe case of herpes, I became ill.

I lost weight, I had thrush in my mouth, dizzy all the time, my hands and feel were tingly, I had lumps in my groin, could not breathe properly and had unexplained bruising.

I was terrified to go for the HIV test because in my mind I already had it. Finally....after 8 months of worry and getting sicker by the day, I went for the test and it came back negative!

The type of sex you explained you had is extremetly low risk and personally I do not think you have HIV, however please go for the test, you will feel so much better that you did when you get the negative results. Berst Regards and good luck.

Life, you mentioned something about unexplained brusing? what is that, i have been getting marks all over my body, they seem like something might have scratched me leaving a bruise that scabs and then dries out. also, i get tingling in my fingers and i have white tongue and painful bumps in my private parts, i have HS1 (herpes Simplex 1). Do you know if this is a reason why? my symptoms seem very close to yours, what are your scars like, can you describe them in depth????? Thanks

Evets, it sounds to me like you are suffering from anxiety. Try to get this back in check as it can be more debilitating than many other illnesses. My own fear of contracting HIV gave me all the symptoms you describe (plus another 10 or so) and turned me into an emotional wreck by the time my negative result came through.

In particular, the light-headedness is a sure sign of stress, and I suffered badly from this myself. I found it difficult to stand up, let alone walk. I also suffered from pains in my head, a general heaviness and stiffness of my head and neck, and numerous other strange twinges and rashes. The thought of HIV infection was with me every moment of every day and I became very depressed.

My mouth was also affected in a very similar way to yours. I went to the shop and bought some super strong antibacterial mouthwash, and ended up making my mouth worse as I killed all the good bacteria too! My tongue went white, my cheeks were sore on the inside, my gums became sore, etc.

Problems with the tongue around the time of stress can often be attributed to dehydration. Drink lots of water, and I'm betting your tongue and your mouth starts to feel a whole lot better!

It is extremely unlikely you have anything to worry about, judging by your symptoms. Two points worth thinking about:

1. HIV is very rare.
2. Oral thrush is a VERY RARE symptom of ADVANCED HIV.

You will be fine, take care of yourself :)

i know the all the stuff happening at once would be rare too, but the thing that worries me the most (other than the light headedness) is the low grade fever of 98-99.5 in the late afternoon, my temperature is typically 95-96 all day long so being that high is part of the reason that causes the light headedness.
i do have bad allergies, and had a virus for a few weeks, but the fact that the fever has remained for 3 weeks now is very unusual (it never went above 100 though)

my allergies have never caused me to have a low grade fever at the exact same times of the day before O.o

(at 12:00 a.m. and later it goes back down to about 97-98.5)

most of the symptoms seem to have gone away, although something is remaining and growing in fact.

in my mouth there was 1 little white spot, barely noticable on the tip of my tongue, each day that went by it grew into a ring and spread along the tongue, the spots it previously was in became bald, without taste buds, and red for the day, then the next day the area it was in was the same way, but the spot it was in the day before wasn't red anymore and was just without the taste buds.
It now has seemed to stop moving so quickly, but it has formed a big circle almost on the tip and upper part of my front tongue, but the weird thing is, the white spot formed again in the same spot it did last time and is begining to spread into a circle again. It's almost like the first one was done moving and healing, then this one shows up in the same area doing the same thing.

I've also had a strange sensation on the side of my tongue like it's very dry and bumpy, it is a bit red, almost scratch like, going from the top to the bottem of the side of my tongue, it doesnt burn or anything, just simply giving me a sensation knowing it's there that drives me crazy.

There is also a re-occuring geographic tongue on the side of my tongue, as soon as it heals and the taste buds return, it starts to form again almost in the same area.

There is also a inflamed red area where my wisdom teeth use to be on the left side of my mouth, hurts to touch, it's pretty much right next to my moler, but can barely see it becasue it's to the side of the tooth, would need a small utinsel to see it, i'm not sure if it's something wrong with my gums or the canditas.

also: the white stuff that forms on the tip of my tongue and spreads, it is impossible to whipe the white stuff off, it only goes away when i eat food or drink enough liquids, it kind of blends in with the rest of the tongue, then once my mouth gets dry again it shows up. I can tell it's not as red now as it was previously, but it is forming again in the same area like i said, almost as if it's repeating the cycle over and over... sometimes painful when eating pineapples, but then again eating pineapples always makes my tongue sting :P
