After 1 1/2 years of dr's and tests, they can not locate the agonizing pain. Is this normal-or does pain translocate and come from the other injuries? Tear in L-4/5 and no cushion left between vertabra and spine C-4/5. I take too many pills-so I tried to go off Vioxx myself as it makes me short of breath-but in about 4 days the pain again went thru the Tylox/Oxycod 4000mg and Nuerontin 3600mg a day, so back on Vioxx too. Work Comp sending me to a second pain management clinic this Thursday. The first one only ended up in bringing me more pain-trigger points and endural injections. No surgery until they locate the thoracic source, but again, does pain translocate and come out in another area?

Yes, it is possible to feel pain elsewhere than the point of injury. What kind of doctor is taking care of you right now? It seems to me that vioxx is not the kind of pain control you need.
Might I suggest asking for a referral to a pain management clinic? Not only do you have a better chance of getting better medications, sometimes they do a good job with diagnositics. One thing for sure...if you go to a pm, make sure it is one who is willing to write medication prescriptions and not just be a needle jockey.
Good luck in your search.

I doubled up on putting this question on the site-didn't think it went on, but did-computer illiterate-the Vioxx is the least of what I take, so I thought I could get off it as it is an inflamatory. I also take 3600mg of Neurontin and 4000mg of Oxycod a day. Everytime I went to a doctor first thing they did was increase dosage-now I am at the max-and still just takes the edge off-pain is CONSTANT. Never entirely taken away by the drugs. I can not touch my mid back on anything, or it's like someone drove a stake thru my chest. Can't sit on my tailbone as it pushes up and does the same. I either stand or lay on my side on the couch. Fell and landed on my tailbone.
