Sounds like Pruritis Vulvae - which is when you have vaginal itching for no obvious reason, and the skin is dry and can get a bit scaly.
Apparently it can be caused by an increase or decrease in oestrogen (especially linked with puberty or the menopause). Otherwise, it can be an allergy to a cleansing product (shower gel, soap, bath oils etc), washing powder (i.e. that you wash your briefs in), nylon tights etc.
I think the doctor usually gives anti-histamine/steroid creams to help get rid of it.
Hope this helps

Your best bet is to talk to your doctor to see ifhe/she can help you figure out what is going on.
Dont rule out a yeast infection until after you have been checked by your doctor. Yeast infections dont always have to havethe classics signs to be a yeast infections. I have only had two. The first was a classic one butthe second really threw me. I actually went in to see my doctor because I had a sharp stabbing pain on one side of the vagina. It had gone on for about a 10 minute time frame and I saw my doc the next day. He kept asking me over and over if I had had any itching or discharge and I kept telling him over and over that I hadnt. Well he did an exam and low and behold I had a yeast infection. I got the one pill treatment from him that day. I questioned him on it and he said that yeast infections can have a variety of signs so when something unusual is going on it is best to be checked by your doctor.
