Hi there,

Don't know if you saw my reply under the other thread because the mods deleted it because I thanked you in Latin. I had said I was beginning to sound like a broken record thanking you for helping me to feel better all the time, so maybe I'd do it in another language. Guess that wasn't cool. So much for being funny.

Anyway, in case you didn't see it, thanks AGAIN for your reply on the skin/arm/leg sensitivity issue. It does seem to come and go, and I had it more earlier in the year when my mom was having health issues (you may remember my posts back then asking if external stress could affect inner ear probs) and I was trying to finish my master's. Maybe I've had a hint of it again now because of preparing for this new teaching job. Anyway, your comments of it feeling like a sunburn are interesting, because it definitely can feel semi-painful for a few seconds at times, and it comes and goes -- it's not a constant sensation. Not sure what that's about, though my doc mentioned that stress responses can happen when you're not completely aware that you are having stress, i.e. the response isn't immediate or an exact one-to-one correlation if you get what I mean. Anyway, it also seems to happen when I have blips, so maybe the stress of the blip brings it on. It's a weird sensation anyway; not really sure if it's skin or muscle or what. I hate how many ways this junk can mess with your body and mind.

I am feeling a bit better. This blip has only been a couple weeks, and like I told Scott, it's no where near the feelings I had when I first got this junk, so that's a blessing. You just get used to feeling normal for a while, then a small set back seems like such a big bummer. I did the MEPs for about a week, when they seemed to stall a bit, so I took a break for a few days and then last night before bed I did one to see what would happen. I hardly felt anything at all in the first position with my head to the right (my affected side), and only the usual 5 seconds or so in the last position. Maybe that means progress of some kind! Maybe I'm getting those things moved around in there!

I hope you are doing well.

Hi Terry

..."I hope you are doing well.".......

Yep still 100%---thanks for asking---in fact---it is starting to feel like this never happened----but---still doing the MEP & exercises---your about due---for the same feelings---since you have had this slightly less then me

----have you tried the MEP for the left side yet??

Subs,

Glad to hear it. You deserve it.

No, haven't tried the left side MEP and didn't plan to since I'm a right sider. I thought you only did it in the direction which you had issues. I've never had a left side problem, and I would be afraid that doing it backward, in a sense, may just roll that stuff back down in there on the right side. Is that wrong?

T

littlemiss: thanks for the kind words. nice to know others have similar stuff. this one is hard to describe, and the only thing I can think of is stress. just went to a new GP and had all the bloodwork etc. done and everything is normal, so at least that's good.

...."Is that wrong?"...

No that is the way I understand it also---so except for the one/two blips that occur infrequently--your at 100%??

Sorry to barge in here...hehe. But I was wondering what you two have been diagnosed with and if you're talking about the Epley movement. It must be BPPV right? That's what I have as far as I know but I'm going to see a specialist on the 17th so we'll see. May I ask how long you've had the condition and how often you do the therapy? Also, have your extraneous symptoms (if you had any) disappeared as well? Sorry for all of the questions but I'm looking everywhere for positivity!! Thanks so much and best of luck.

Yes, I'd say 100% except for this blasted trampoline walk and movement sensations when I'm moving around on my own. Not sure why I continue to be shaken up like this (so to speak). Something in there won't freakin' calm down and it's starting to bug me. What's going on here? Do the MEPs cause another need to compensate? Haven't all the darn neuron pathways been reestablished by now? Good grief. I mean I'm perfectly functional and all; I'd just like to get rid of this lingering floaty motion stuff. As I sit here and type this I feel like nothing ever happened to me at all. But get up and walk across the campus, and it's instantly like I've had a glass of wine or something. Cars are okay, my bike is okay, all other aspects of life I feel like my old self, EXCEPT walking. Drives me crazy.

Sorry for the vent

Kris,

No problem! Barge away! That's what we're all here for. Subs and I are both veterans of the right-side BPV monster (head spins and fun and games when turning to the right). Subs has been at 100% for a while now, but kindly stays around to help the rest of us. He hit 100% after about 14 months. As for me, I'm basically at 100% or 95-100% everyday but it took me a little longer. I'm now in my 21st month of this junk. As you'll see from my reply to Subs above, I've been having a little blip the last 2-3 weeks that's bugging me, but otherwise I'm fine. So, to answer your question, no not all my extraneous symptoms have disappeared, or I should say they disappear for a while and then like to poke their little heads back out, which basically does nothing except serve to aggravate me because they aren't really the same severity as they were in the beginning.

We are talking about the Epley maneuver, which if you really do have true BPPV, I highly recommend you having your doc perform. I had mine do it in my 6th month (didn't really know about it before then) when I had a second episode and it worked well. I've never had the hard spins upon turning my head since then. Just this sometimes lingering floaty crap that I refer to above. There is a modified Epley you can do at home (look under the first "sticky" post for the information about it), and I did it for about a week a couple weeks ago. I'm on the fence about how much good it did. I did another one a couple days ago and it seemed better in the first position (once you see the video, you'll understand to what I'm referring here), so maybe it is doing some good. I should probably keep doing it more regularly. Anyway, does any of that help?

Good luck on the 17th. Let us know.

Hey "T"

..."Something in there won't freakin' calm down and it's starting to bug me."...

...."Haven't all the darn neuron pathways been reestablished by now? Good grief."....

All that stuff will go to----even after your 100%----there are still some pathways that need reestablishment/reinforcement---remember back when---we thought---months went by---with no improvement---it was happening---just was so incremental---then---we would look back and say---hey---yep---we did improve---that month---then a setback---then a improvement---that junk is behind you now---

---from where you are now---no chance of a relapse---your to far along----I mean---it took you 40+ years----the first time around----it has only been a short period---relative to that----relax----it will all go---is raining out there or what?---miracles---are few and far between----and you want to save them for the "big one"---and what just went by--and is now receding in the rear view mirror---was close---but not "it"

Hi Kris

No problem.

Terry covered it well---Jul04 was the 24th month---been at 100% since 14th month.

Subs,

Next to my husband, you're the best cheerleader a girl could ask for. :D

Time to relax and let it pass.
