Hello,

this is my first post on here and I was wondering if someone could help.

I have not been diagnosed with CTS but seem to be experiencing many of the recognised symptoms. One of the main problems I have is when I position my hands such as when lied in bed on my side with my hands placed on the matress or lower. I get tingling in my fingers!!!

Is this a symptom??

It also occurs when I use tools such as a screwdriver or pen etc.

Thanks,

Daisy xxxx

A little more information would be helpful... how long has this been occuring? What brought it on? do you ever have trouble lifting objects that aren't that heavy (e.g. gallon of milk)?

which fingers are tingling???if its the pinky and ring finger...it is your ulnar nerve damage...if its your other fingers..i would say carpel tunnel...it would be helpfull to have more info..i just had surgery for carpel tunnel and nerve release.if you were to purchase a splint to wear at night time that will help..also when your on the puter...any kind of repetitive motion..first and foremost call your doctor and get checked out!!! let us know how you are doing!!! hope you find some elief soon....

This could be one of several conditions. Do you have shooting pain in your arms? If so, does it travel from your hand up into your arm, or from your arm down into your hand? Also, many times symptoms of numbness/weakness/tingling in your arms/hands/fingers are related to a neck issue, such as a pinched nerve. I would recommend having a consultation with a chiropractor in your area. Good luck.

Hi,
Many thanks to those who have replied.

I seem to only get the tingling in my thumb and the three fingers next to it...never in my little finger. My hands occasionally feel swollen but dont look it and after putting up a flat pack bunk bed I spent the next 2 nights being woken up with my hands burning and aching intensly!!

I am having so much trouble getting in at the doctors as it is not an emergency!!! but I will perservere and let you all know how I got on.

Thanks again and take care,

Daisy xxxxxx

Hi, Daisy.

My hand surgeon said that pain in the little finger, and 1/2 of the ring finger, would more than likely be caused by ulnar nerve problems, as someone mentioned above. He did state, however, that the pressure from the carpal tunnel ligament (affecting the median nerve - thumb and adjacent 2 fingers) could possibly cause pain to radiate into the smaller two fingers. I'm having surgery (endoscopic version) in 10 days, so I'll post my thoughts and progress here.

The symptoms you have described certainly could be from CTS. Keep pestering the doctors until you get in. I let mine go for over 5 years, and now I have some neuropathy in my dominant hand. I hope the surgery will allow the nerve to fully regenrate and heal itself.

Please let us know how you progress.

Take care,

Bill
