I've had a throbbing pain in one of my wisdom teeth the last couple of days. At first I couldnt see anything wrong, but today I looked at it from the side and I have a hole in it. I scheduled an appointment for this week at the dentist. Would it be better just to get it cut out or filled?

There is almost a 100% chance the dentist will say have it removed - even fully erupted wisdom teeth are hard to take care of properly and therefore are prone to problems. It isn't worth trying to fill. However, extraction is quite a simple process- search this board and read some of the previous posts about wisdom tooth removal - almost everyone says it wasn't nearly as bad as they had expected.

You'll probably end up getting it out... and consider getting any of the other ones you might have out at the same time, too.

If you've got a visible hole and that much pain, that tooth is probably already beyond what would even be worth attempting to fix.
