I was on the patch and I just couldnt handle the pain it caused during my period.I went to my doc to tell him that but he said that was normal and that it would go away in a few months.......

  If thats normal then I dont want to be normal!!

I was on tri-cyclen for about three months but it gave me the worst panic attacks and problems with anxiety.I went camping with friends and couldnt sleep ALL night because my heart litertally would not stop beating 100 miles an hour. The good thing about the pill was that it made my periods alot lighter and way better.I had no cramps,no pain, nothing.I loved it but I couldnt deal with the anxiety and depression because it was taking me over.

Now for the patch....oh man, worst period ever.Usually when I get cramps,I take two midol, lay down and the cramps are gone in 15 minutes and thats the end of the pain but for this period (my first on the patch) I was up at 5:30 am,took midol, even took a hot bath at 6 am and it didnt help.I continued to have cramps for the second and part of the third day.Not fun...not fun at all.I was sure my boyfriend was going to leave me because I was so mean the whole time.... I liked the patch cuz it didnt make me sick while it was on (on the pill I wanted to throw up all the time and had no appetite at all) But...........I cant deal with period like the one I just had.

So has anyone else experienced this? What pill is good for making my period easier but not making me nauseous, anxious, panicky, depressed and moody?

I think tri-cyclen was too much for my system to handle,my heart didnt like it too much.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheer.......... :jester:

Hi -

I haven't been on the pill or any tyoe of birth control for the last 12 or so years. I did have my tubes tied immediately after the birth of my baby boy. Since they have been tied, my periods are horrible, with lots of pain/cramping with heavy heavy blood flow.

My Dr prescribed Bextra to help with the cramps. It actually worked....

I was on tri cyclen also and it made me sicker than a dog around my period. I am on Ortho Lo now and have had a couple problems, mostly headaches and a yeast infection when I first started, but other than that it's been great. I'm a little more irritable than normal, but I figure that's the hormones and not me. I would maybe try something that's a little lower dosage? Talk to your doc again, maybe he/she can recommend something else

I guess it depends how different pills work for different people in terms of side effects. I take Femodene - I feel completely normal (no anxiety or depression), my periods are light, shorter and less painful (still some cramps, but nothing like not taking the pill). By contrast, I tried a Mercilon for 2 months, bled non-stop and was in sheer agony - but friends have no problems with it whatseoever!

I was on the patch I just quit taking it because I have been having lower abdominal pain and horrible periods since I started it. It made me throw up and I was a witch, etc. So I am not going to take any birth control. Im going to do it the natural way from now on because birth control is horrible, I was on it for 3 years and I tried so many different ones and none of them were good for me. So I bought the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Wessler, which will hopefully be here in a couple of days. But a lot of ladies on here suggested it and on the internet its highly rated so Im going to try to do it the natural way, you should too. Unless you can find something else that works for you. And ever since I stopped the patch which was about 8 days ago, I have been having weird stuff happening, its hard to explain but my heart starts racing really fast and I have to take a couple of deep deep breaths because it feels like I cant breath and Im going to pass out. Kinda like an anxiety (sp?) attack. Which I used to have when I was on yasmin. But anways that is just my experience and what I am going to do know I hope I was of some help. GOOD LUCK with whatever you choose to do.

when i was on ortho tricyclen i had the worst periods... 5-7 days, major cramps, sick to my stomach.. and broke out really bad..even though it does help some people with acne.. i have been on A LOT of different pills. i took alesse for a while but then eventualy just stopped getting my period on that for some reason (which i didnt mind..although it did make me want to take a pregnancy test every month)... i have now been on estrostep for quite some time.. i get my periods for 2-3 days tops and rarely rarely get any cramps. if i do, they def are not like the unbareable pain that i got when i was on the ortho.

A while back I was on a BCP called Loestrin and it literally almost made my period non-existant. I had no cramping and very minimal bleeding.
