Hi Kathy,

What a bummer to be sick with this gum graft in your mouth! I really feel for you! Glad the weekend will be here for you before you know it!

I have been trying to tough it out, without the retainer, even with eating, and I was doing okay, and then I'll eat something, and like my whole mouth is on fire, or like an allergic reaction? Do you have that? I think it's the steriods, because I have just taken Aleve? I have this rash on my chest, and i have acid reflux, which I think the steriod is making that worse. Do you think I could cut back on the steriod at this point? I go back Tues. i don't know I'm getting real frustrated with this eating thing, I start swallowing soft food almost whole!

I did venture out to the mall today, (big mistake) I was so dizzy and light headed I came home and crashed on the couch!

When will the eating get better? Actually my grafts hurt too at the bottom where he did it? Do yours? I :) :) guess I'm do for a pain pill, it's been 10 hours. I haven't had any bruising thank goodness, minor if any puffiness.

Anyway thanks for the food ideas, I also started back on the vitamins. do you take them?

Anyway hopefully it can only get better, hopefully you'll kick this cold soon!
Yeah, the flowers were a surprise, it was a nice touch, even if I paid for them! LOL!!

Talk soon,

Dana :)

Hi Dana,

I'm not sure why they prescribed the steroid for you...? I got the prednisone for the swelling (my lower mouth area was puffed out quite noticeable). I would call the doctor and see what he says about stopping it. You can research the medicine online and see if a rash is a side effect from it.

Yes, I still have a lot of soreness, but moreso in the roof of my mouth. The dissolvable stitches on the left side (roof) have not come out yet and it is very tender there (I think he cut more deeply on that side). The place where he used the non-dissolvable stitches doesn't seem to be sore at all (I get them removed next Wednesday). That area (front lower right) was VERY recessed, but is looking VERY good so far. That is my reward.

Yes, I find myself frustrated with the food. Last year, I think I pretty much just ate soft food, food cut up in microscopic pieces until I was "cleared" (the post-operative appt. where they will tell you can brush/floss like a normal person). This time, I have been cheating and brushing/flossing but there are a couple of spots where I'm not sure there is stitching (looks like it, but I don't think so) and have wondered if I've tore something out that should be there. But, I'm a paranoid sort, ha! So probably not.

Is your appt. on Tuesday to remove stitching? I'm glad you didn't have bruising. Mine is still blackish / purplish. Real fun. I take a daily vitamin, is that what you mean?

Well, I better start getting ready for work. I will be so glad when the day's over.

Yeah, flowers would be a nice surprise, all my dr. did was give me this bruise!

Hey Kathy,

I go in Tues. for my post-op, so looking forward to getting this stitches out! I'm with you I hope this all took, I surelly won't go through this again!

I'm just mainly cleaning my bottom teeth, and using that rinse. I quit the steriod couldn't tolerate it anymore, but still feel real tired! No aleve today either, but probably will take some tonight! My teeth feel a little sore, and my roof too, just don't eat much! I do feel better though without that steriod!

Watching for Ivan hopefully if it comes it will be after my Tues. appt, don't want to miss that! Hope you're feeling better! Any weekend plans? Just resting up here!

I take a multi with some Vit. E, and a B complex, don't think it's helping with my energy though!

Dana
