I'm a 25 yr. old female in overall good health and have been dealing with mvp symptoms for a few years now with anxiety also. I've been told that I have a slight trace of regurgitation but am worried that I may have to have surgery someday. What are the chances with a slight trace? I'm so stressed out worrying all the time. Can anyone relate?

Nobody can say with a 100% certainty that it will stay the way it is or get worse. Slight reg. is quit normal a lot of people without mvp have some reg. Youjust have to keep an eye on it with regular echos. I have mild to moderate leakage and they still cant tell me if mine will need replacing or not. Plus my valve is thick and floppy and they still dont know......stephanie

I have mitral regurgitation though I don't have MVP. The technician was the one that I heard abt the MR from and Not the cardiologist. Usually, they won't think it's anything serious. Since you have MVP and mild regurgitation, you should at least have an echo once a year or once in 2 years. good luck!
