my friend just called and is crying shaking and unconsolable!! she has been with this loser for a yr now who has repeatedly cheated on her, she is 31 and a mom and i dont know why she is so irresponsible but thats besides the point...she went and had an hiv test and wont know reusults until next friday. ive tried searching on the net for her but she gets worse when i tell her symptoms and ive tried explaining to her that for all those symptoms she has had in her life with other illnesses and not had hiv....that those symptoms could be anything!! anyways, he gave her clamydia about a month ago. she hasnt cheated and he is acting like it fell from the sky!! but for 2 weeks now he has had non stop diarhea, flu like symptoms and tested pos for clamydia too. she has had non stop yeast infections and also has massive amounts of white coting on her tongue which the doc said she didnt know what it was but when looked under the micro. didnt look like yeast!! she has had stomache pains, been tired and has had a white vaginal discharge(which is not a yeat infection anymore) now i told her her stomach could be from stress, her tongue from the antibiotics she is on for the std and everything else but she is still petrified she had aids. i wanted to see what u guys said and i wont be repeating anything neg. i read back to her cause i think she maybe worrying for nothing. for some reason her bf got panicked when he found out she had an hiv test! she didnt know why but when she told him he made her show him her arm to show the needle mark from blood work!! you know i just dont get how someone can get themself in this situation with all the info out there but i guess they do!

Antibiotics can give many of the symptoms you described your friend as having. When I talke antibiotics I get stomach aches, diarrhoea, thrush infections - basically, as well as killing the bad bacteria they also kill the good bacteria that keeps candida (thrush) in check.

theacat is right. the problem is that you can not diagnose HIV from symptoms. it is great that she is getting tested, but herein lies the problem....

the CDC says that 90 days is a very good time frame in which to get conclusive results. that means 90 days from the last possible exposure. what that implies is kinda complicated. lets say for example that JohnDoe is HIV positive, but does not know it. he has unprotected sex with JaneDoe 200 times over a year period. at the end of that year period Jane Doe is freaked because she had caught an STD, an now fears that she could have caught HIV because of the unfaithful JohnDoe. the last day they had sex was January 1st. She goes in for a test January 15th. the test is NOT conclusive. statistics show that you can have sex with a + person and have a 1/500 chance of becomming infected each encounter. now with a STD that number drops quite a bit. there are other things that can drop it even more, as in the + persons viral load #'s...ect. so this means that she could have been not infected for 10 months of that year, and then gotten infected on the 178th exposure, or the 199th. you just don't know. so if she is still sleeping with this man she could be re-exposing herself therefore making her test null and void. does that make sense?

it makes sense to me!! but i doubt it would to her! she just finds all these medical things bizarre. she said it was happening before she even thought of hiv she has been with this guy for a yr now so if she is + she couldve caught it early on, its very frustrating to watch your friends behave so stupidly like this!! i hope she learns her lessen.
