Hello everyone, I hope that everyone is doing well and enjoying life. I have a guestion to ask, OK i found out that I have cysts growing on my kindeys when one of them ruptured about 5 months ago. Ever since this happened I have been have on and off back problems, usually occuring when I don't have enoug to drink during the day to flush out my kidneys. It has been happening more and more lately becuase of a gym class I am taking my school, (p.s. i'm 17). I was just wondering if the back pain could be becuase of the kidney cysts(it is a lower back pain and off to the sides too, just over my kidneys). And if this is a problem that I should be going to a doctor to get checked out. If anyone has any advice for me that would be great. Have a good one

Hey,
I have cysts growing on my kidneys but to be classified as having polycystic kidney deseas you need to have hundreds I was told, but I don't have that many. So I'm not sure exacually what you call that to be honest. But if You know anything about it please please let mw know.

I have polycystic kidneys and I think you were given misinformation as far as the number of cysts that you have to have for it to be PKD. I don't have hundreds of cysts on each kidney. I always thought anything more then a few was considered PKD. Of course, with PKD, more and more cysts form over time. Does anyone in your family have kidney disease? Maybe you need to see a kidney doctor if you can't get the answers you need from your doctor. Good luck to you and let us know how you turn out.

With PKD,it is not so much the AMOUNT of cysts that you currently have(it is a progressive disease and you will accumulate more as time goes on)but more of the presentation of them.they will present in more of a glob like formation of many cysts(kind of like the way bubbles look, attached together and connected like that?)as opposed to seeing several with space in between the cysts? You may see some septated cysts but they will eventually be joined by others.I hope this helps.Marcia
