My brother died 1 yr and 4 mts ago from a sudden heart attack at work. Im 39 mother of 2, 1 in his second year of college and 1 in middle school. i had my first heart attack 1 month ago. i had 3 blockages. a 99%, 78% and a 76%. All my life i have been drug and alcohol free, and all around healthy, and very active. The doctors said it was heriditary cardiovascular heart desease. Can any one tell me anything about this heriditary heart desease. The doc. said this to me with no explination. I also have one sister who has had some blockages taken care of with meds. She is fine now. thank you for any help. dollfountain

It may have to do with lipid levels. Does your family have high total cholesterol or low HDL and high triglycerides?

I have a similar background to yours, and 3 yrs ago at the age of 45 had a heart attack and emergency quadruple bypass done the same day. My problem appears to be mainly related to high cholestrol which had gone untreated for years. I'm now on cholestrol reducing drugs and so far so good. I have also started taking Coreg and Altace to repair the damage caused by the heart attack.
