Hello,
I need some help with my IVP and Cytology results. I've tried doing research on the web and have come up short on info.
Anyway, the results read:
(Cytology)
Squamous and urothelial cells present with some nuclear enlargement. Blood and inflamation present. Some intact red blood cells are noted.
A cytokeratin 20 immunoperoxidase study shows marking in a few cells of probable superficial urothelial type.
(IVP)
Left kidney: 3 mm. calcification present overlying the lower pole prior to contrast administration. Not seen after contrast administration. There is aslight distortion of the distribution of the intrarenal collecting structures with two small infundibula seen in the area appearing to be displaced posteriorly. A faint tubular blush in the area of the pyramids, particularly in the lower pole of the left kidney. Noted: there was an area of concern in the mid to upper pole of the left kidney on recent outside renal sonography.
IMPRESSION: There is some distortion of the distribution of the collecting structures in the mid to upper zones of the left kidney. This correlates with the questionable area seen on sonography.
Just so you know, I was sent to have all these tests after having gross hematuria for nearly one year and all of my urine cultures have been negative. I've recently started having left side pain and pressure/pinching pain in my urethra constantly, which is unchanged during or after urination and running a low grade fever.
So, what does all of that mean? My urologist is the type of doctor who doesn't explain anything and I'm left worrying about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
