My life is so worst right know. Let me tell you what happen to me. On Aug 21, 2003; I met a call girl; where sexual intercourse happend with the condom and receved a oral from her along with deep kissing. Thats it, simple ! right ?? No.

I got sick 3 weeks later, than again on 8 weeks than again on 13 weeks than again in two months and so on. Its been One year and two weeks. Total time I been sick is 12 times. Constant fever.

My sytmpomes and pains include : stiff neck, recurrent fever, joint pains, finger pain, pain around livere, ALT increased, inflation in joints, pain in leg, pain back of head, sever headaches, sore throat all the time, fatigue, weakness, lack of energy, lack of movement, numbness, vision problem, blurry vision, blind spots, diareeha, lose stool on and off, lymph nodes pain, armpit pain, groin pain, and neck pain, pain in stomach, post naslal drip, fungus infection in groin area, muscus drainage in throat

Out of this following condition have been diagnosis: Prostate INfection (never had it know I do all the time), CMV infection, Herpes Infection, .

Problem is my DOc told me that my ALT keeps coming back abnormal, also my WBC is at 4.0 for last month and hasnt increase at all. MY CRL is up, cause of heart attack.

Following test have occur at exact 90 days, 3 months after exposure:
Hep B, Hep C, HIV - 1, Syphills, Chalmedia, Gonorreha, HSV 1 & 2. All neg.

Following at 3, 5, 6 months; = HIV - 1 Elisa Test Neg.
Following at 3, 6, months = ALT increase, pain in liver area, inlation liver.

Following at 1 year: HIV - 1 = Elisa is Positive. But WB blot is neg. So My doc says I am neg. HIV 2 = Elisa Neg.
WBC = 4.0, ALT way to high, CRL to high.
--------------

Question: What can cause all this to me ?
What type of STD did I get ?

I am 20, I never had any health problem prior to this. My mistake, this was my first girl experience ever.

Can HIV still be present ? What can I do at this point. Is anyone on the same boat with me

Let me get this straight:

- You tested HIV negative at 3 months
- You tested HIV negative at 6 months
- You tested HIV positive at one year!?

I must ask, what prompted you to get a third test after two negatives? A false positive ELISA is extremely rare, but it can happen. A western blot is 100% definitive, so rest assured you are still completely negative.

Still, it is very strange to me that you would test for HIV at one year, despite two previous negative tests. Please could you let us know why this is? Another baffling outcome is your recent Herpes diagnosis, despite previous negative tests for this also. I don't believe this type of irregularity has ever been recorded until now.

The mind boggles, it must be very frustrating for you. I wonder what could have caused your false positive... Did you engage in other risky behaviours after your initial series of tests? Stress, extreme anxiety and paranoia could explain all your symptoms. Certainly, I can't imagine any other reason why you would test again for HIV at the one year mark.

Intrigued

My doctor told me to come back for HIV at One year test just to make sure.
Thats what I am worrying about, what can cause the false positive on elisa, since the test is so accurate.

Have you considered M.E. or fibromyalgia? They can cause these symptoms.

No. But how is ME or fibromyalgia activated ?

I don't know what ME is, however, I do know what fibromyalgia is, seeing that I have it. To me, it sounds like you could have fibro, CFS ( chronic fatigue syndrome) or even possibly rheumatoid arthritis. You might also want to condsider lyme disease, and lupus. You sound very obsessive compulsive, not unlike myself. You are also 20, and this was your first experience with a girl, so I gather youre probably pretty paranoid about a lot of things. As far as fibromyalgia goes, the biggest factor in fms being activated is STRESS. Sometimes, having lyme disease, can induce a false positive on an ELISA. It's something to consider. Lyme disease is one of the most misdiagnosed diseases out there, and its a lot more common than one would think. I would suggest you going to see, first off a psychologist or a psychiatrist. I would then reccomend a neurologist, and then possibly a rheumatologist. To me it sounds like you have stress issues, and possibly an auto-immune condition, HIV not being one of them!!!!

Sometimes ME or Fibro just start for no reason. Sometimes they begin after an illness - for example you had the flu and it never really stopped and turned into ME. Do a search on the Internet - I think there is also a board on this site. I had a coupld of friends who had fibromyalgia - they had headaches all the time, trouble sleeping, sore throats, ached everywhere, fuzzy headed etc.

M.E. is another name for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The list of symptoms for Fibromyalgia are:

- Increased sensitivity to pain
- constant pain that gets worse in different parts of the body
- fatigue
- numbness
- tingling
- Dry eyes
- trouble sleeping
- Difficulty focusing
- Chest pain
- Dizziness
- Balance problems
- Digestive problems: heartburn, nausea, diarrhoea, constipation
- sensitivity to bright lights/odour

Bontok, I don't think you have HIV. You might have fibromyalgia. I have all the symtoms for fibromyalagia. It's a debilitating disease.
No cure. Just like HIV. but it's not HIV.

*AHEM* Just because you have the symptoms of fibromyalgia, does not mean, you have fibromyalgia. It is true that a virus may activate fibro in your body, however, it is more likely, that built up stress will bring your body to this point. I started having trouble sleeping around age 13 or so, and slowly, continually had health issues. I was a high over-acheiver, stress riddden, obsessive compulsive--depressive, this is generally the trademark for most fibromites. It is also gernerally seen in women, however it will occasionally effect a man. Fibromyalgia tends to make you more suseptible to viruses--and they tend to hit you harder. My junior year in HS, I was the star in our musical, I was in a year long scholarship program, AP classes, a dancing troupe...and after it was all over, my body collapsed, and I contracted bronchitis, food posioning, a sinus infection, and was ill for over 2 months. After that happened, I never really gained my health back. I was checked for all sorts of things, MRI's I had so many blood tests done I looked like a pin cushion. In the end, I had a thyroid that was on the lower side of normal, a b12 deficeincy, and a diagnosis of fibromyalgia. It was a bit easier for me to get a diagnosis, b/c my mom has fibro as well. She was sick for years and years before she got diagnosed--uneeded surgeries, she lost almost all of her hearing, she could barely walk some days, if at all. Her body had seemingly given up. After she got diagnosed, and learned to treat her illness, she has gained, so much of her health back, and some of her hearing too! tho she still has to wear hearing aids. I honestly, wouldnt wish fibromyalgia on anyone. However, there are certain characteristics, you described that dont really sound like fibro--you might want to get your ANA levels checked. While it is not a good idea to self diagnose yourself with HIV--it is also not good to do the same with other immune disorders. Go see a rheumatologist, or an immunologist, see what they have to say. Sometimes I get totally freaked out about my body, b/c weird things happen to it all the time, that never happened before. Honestly, you just have to get used to it, of you have an immune disorder. Just accept the fact that you are not dying, and try to figure the best thing to do for your body. I can tell you this-- there is no cure for fibro--and most dr's will tell you only a couple things to help you--diet, exercise, and de-stress. Fibro, is triggered by stress. I cant tell you how many times my rheumy has said that to me. Sleep is also a big factor. In other words, take care of yourself, and see where that gets. People kill me sometimes....they want to know what is wrong with them, yet, they dont eat right, they dont sleep right, they dont exercise, all they do is stress themselves out, yet they expect perfect health. Your body, my body, everyone elses, is FRAGILE. We are not invincible, and I think you are probably now realizing that. Don't worry so much. You're still alive.

Hailey, you are absolutely right. Having the symptoms of fibro doesn't mean that's what you have. I guess I mentioned it because in my experience, doctors don't think of fibro or chronic fatigue syndrome.

I had all of the symptoms of fibro when I was very very stressed and overworking. I mentioned it to my doc but he seemed disinterested. I can honestly say I had never felt to ill in my life. But then I went freelance, and now I have a better life-work balance and don't get anywhere near the problems I had before. So I guess it was symptoms of stress.

Stress has a LOT to answer for in terms of feeling ill.

Correct stress can cause lot of problems, but IT DOESNT cause inflation in liver etc..

MY ALT is 156, thats alot. Stress also doesnt cause vision change problem, I am getting bluery vision and blank spots.

My is not stress.

I wish you don't have this illness. I wish for you.

Actually, Bontok, is correct, most likely, fibromyalgia will not cause inflamation of the liver, or a high ALT. However. fibromyalgia is known for making you suseptible to infection, etc. Honestly, it sounds like Lupus, Lyme, or Rheumatoid arthritus. Many people with fibro have these other diseases/conditions as well. It might also just be your body. Who knows!? Go see a specialist. It takes a lot of ruling out to figure out what is wrong, trust me. You arent going to find the answers here. Fibromyalgia can cause blurry vision, and "blank spots", b/c many people with fibro also have hypoglycemia. Have you ever been tested for diabetes? I mean, in all honesty...things like, hypoglycemia, diabetes, anemia are MUCH more common than HIV, fibro, CFS, etc. I suggest, you make a dr. appointment, settle down, eat right, sleep right and go out for a run.

I dont have Lupus, I been tested for that and I dont have Rhuematoid Arthritus, I been tested for that using ANA test. All neg.

I am seen a infection disease doc tomorrow and and rhumatologist next week.

What else can it be ?

How can someone get fibromyalgia.

Iwantacure
09-14-2004, 11:11 PM
Fibromyaglia you can get from stress/trauma. Also from domestic violence.
and living with a lot of stress/sorrow. If you have a blurry vision fibromyaglia can cause that. From what I understand it starts at the age of 20. Also, you are very upset that you have HIV.
Reumtologist will check you for that by pressing certain points in your body.
I need to have an appointment with one. My doctor didn't think I have any problem and didn't take my pain seriously.
If you don't have fibromyaglia, please reduce your stress level and take life easily. REsearch has shown that fibromyaglia can be triggered from a lot of stress.

The cause of fibromyalgia is still unknown--it is suggested that emotionl/physical trauma/stress can bring on fibromyalgia. It is also suggested that a virus could intialize the condition. It effects FAR more women, than it does men, but it will occasionally happen. It can also show up in family clusters--a lot of people who have it, have family members who do as well. Fibromyalgia doesnt start at the age of 20. Children to the elderly can start experiencing the first onset of symptoms. It is rare for it to effect children, or even people under the age of 30. Fibromyalgia is commonly seen as a secondary condition to cancer, or other illnesses. Often times, people develop fibro after chemo treatment. When I first started feeling real intense symptoms--I often fell over in pain, or became so fatigued I couldnt stand. I had a very tough time with sleep--at first, I wanted to sleep all the time, and couldnt wake up, sometimes sleeping 15 hrs a night. I had extremely vivid dreams. My entire body became extremely sensitive. One incident I remember--lying on floor watching TV. My friend, lightly pulled on my arm to help me up, and I ended up with an extremely painful pinched nerve. It's not a fun thing to have, but by NO means is it as dreadful as "Iwantcure" makes it out to be. Some people have it worse than others. I really hope neither of you have it--it has totally changed my life, I am not the same person, and I go through a lot of struggle--but I'm not dying, of cancer, HIV, etc. It can be worked with. You might just have mild leukopenia ( low white blood cell count ) which could account for your infections. Best of Luck.
