Hello! first of all, congradulations to all of you who quit!! I am not a smoker, but my boyfriend who is 16 years old has been addicted to smoking since he was 12. He is currently taking ambien, lexapro and ceftin (antibiotic for lymes disese). Hes tried the patch, but it doesnt work. He smokes about 1 1/2 packs a week. Can he take the pills that come with the "smoke away" systems and ones like that?? Someone also told me that hypnosis might work. Any ideas?

He'll just have to try different things in order to quit. Its best for him to quit now as it only gets harder to quit the more and longer he continues to smoke. I'm not sure about the pills, so ask a pharmacist. I have heard that hypnosis works..I quit cold turkey. Everyone quits differently so he'll have to keep trying different things until he finds one that works.

Myself and DH have quit smoking by having accupuncture, we only needed 1 session and have not needed one since, this has worked for us but i cant guarentee it will work for him but its worth a try. Make sure you go to a trained accupuncturist - you can get contacts through you doctor. Good luck

Dont mean to be rude, but if he is smoking 1.5 packs a week. Maybe he isnt really addicted? Thats only about 5 cigarettes a day. Which is not much, but still 5 to many! Maybe he is doing it to be cool....thats why i started, all the hot girls smoked in my junior high!! Why did he start smoking at such an early age? Peer presure?

Nothing cured me, I couldnt stop smoking at all, I tried time and time again. Till my girlfriend said, I am going to break up with you if you dont quit.....havnt had a smoke since and it feels great!!
