Here's the deal...I have fine hair that is thinning lately and seems to always look limp and blah. It's not curly but not stick straight either so it just looks yucky. I'm NOT good at styling my hair and when I do take the time to blow dry w/a round brush I still don't like the way it looks. I would LOVE to have hair that has loose, spirally wavy curls (think Gisele, Jenifer Aniston, Sarah Jessica Parker) and think w/my long, rectangle face it would look great. Could I get some kind of perm and it look like this? My sister says "H*LL NO, do NOT get a perm---it'll look terrible!". She says they NEVER turn out like you think and I'll end up looking like white trash (lol!). I want honesty so I REALLY appreciate her input. Is she right?
Thanks Ladies!

There are pros and cons to getting a perm. I personally would never get it done again. It's easy to style you hair, but you have to commit yourself to having curly hair for at least 1-2 years. Straightening out a perm with a round brush and blowdryer is not that easy or healthy for what WILL be YOUR dry, damaged hair (after the chemical treatment).
It's fun and low maintenance, but you also have to invest more money into good leave in conditioners or products to "enhance" your curl. I also doubt that you'll be too please with having to clean out your shower drain every so often...cause lord knows you'll need to after you get a perm. Your hair will be falling out like crazy!
I say don't do it...but I also say get a consultation before you make your move. Go to a good salon and get their opinion. At the same time get some tips on how to get that Jen Aniston look without killing your hair. I'm sure it's not that hard.

Thanks so much for responding! I believe you may be right--oh well! I have no clue how to get wavy, spirally curls on my own! I suppose I could go to a salon and have them "teach" me.
Thanks again!
