Hello,
Im 23 male. I recently got my ALT figures tested. They turned out to be very high; 169. I am very much distressed. I have been taking NSAIDs for my knees recently maybe they triggered the rise. Anyway i have been having high ALT figures for the last 4 years now. Been taking drugs periodically. The docs diagnosed me with NASH.
Can anybody help by letting me know what i can do to lower this figure? Also am i in danger of cirrhosis? Very concerned.
Thanks

I have elevated liver enzymes and my Gastroenterologist diagnosed me with Hemochromatosis. I go and have weekly phlebotomies and my iron levels are going down. The elevated liver enzymes were being elevated due to the high iron in my body.

I told to eat a low fat diet. This has helped. I have fatty liver and Autoimmune Hep. I've been on Prednisone and that has helped my LFT's return to normal. I don't recommend the Pred unless it is life threatening like mine was though. Try the low fat diet, Stay away from alcohol and meds if you can. Then talk to your doctor for some recommendations on what he suggests. Good luck to you.
