My first ACDF C6-7 031106 only fused on the bottom half. My NEW NS is going to use my own bone from my hip this time, and come in from the left this time. Apparently this is the side that will affect the Vocal chords. How long before this will pass? So she can get to the spur in the nerve canal this time. Listening to her it seems I got the "friday" job last time. It will still be an ACDF with plate. JUst seems she is going to more thorough. My real concern in this (this time) is waking up afterwards. Any reassurance would be appreciated ( about Waking up, and Using my own bone v/s Donor ), and the recovery from the Hip portion of it.

When I had a fusion on my lower back I used my own bone. I never really had much pain in my hip where they took the bone. I have heard some people do though.

I had same procedure done on 11-3-03 and found out yesterday that there is a gap (appears to be a non-fusion) at C6. Going for CT scan now to determine the extent. Pain just started back up about 2 weeks ago. Wonder if you could have a fusion and then it come loose somehow? I am not sure what will be done to correct this if anything. I cannot go through surgery again, I almost died during first ACDF due to brain hemorrhage. Anyone have a clue what could be going on?
