I have been lurking here for 6 months when I had a mri for my lower back a kidney cyst was found. During ultrasound a liver cyst was found. Not a big deal I was told. Went back for my 6 months follow up and got the famous phone from the doctor the same day "I have good news and bad news"the kidney cyst had not change but the liver cyst had tripled and was now the size of a orange with irregular border. Then sent me to a gast(sp?) I had liver aspiration,that was awful!!This with in 4 days. A little quick for doctors don't you think. I do not drink and pretty healthy. I hurt my back playing tennis. I use to be very active untill the back went out on me. Now just waiting to see what this is. Has any one had this and can tell me what happens next. :rolleyes:

ouch why was the asperation awful? and I hope it works out good for you. I was told I had a liver cyst that was small and not to worry. This was done thru a ct scan. I was told i had a fatty liver too. My GI said no worry just lose weight I did. As for the cyst you have are you having any symptoms? tell me what they are..Thanks, Lisa

They did a ct scan aspiration. When they numb you with a shot it is o.k., but when the next shot goes deeper you feel a lot of pressure and my shoulder started burning.You are told over and over not to breath deep. So of course I wanted to! Then they take tissue and start to drain. It took 4 test tubes. There is still a lot of pressure. When it was over I saw what was in the test tubes it was kinda golden muddy color. The pain for me did not come till they took out the needle. My whole right side started spasing. My hip was rising in the air and I had no control. It was like having contractions. After 30 mins. they started coming father apart. As far as symptoms go, I don't know. I am being treated for a herniated disc and I'm 47. I thought must of had to with that. My stomach felt very full no matter what I ate and it feels like I have done 100 stomach crunches.
This is what the Radiology report said...The predominantly cystic mass in the right lobe of the liver is enlarging and has a slightly irregular border with an internal septum such that this cannot be classified as a simple cyst, particularly in view of its growth since the previous exam. A ct guided aspiration of the hepatic cyst for further evaluation is recommended to rule out neoplastic etiology. Sounds scary doesn't it. My doctor told me cyst are very common and normal no problem, so I was just wondering if anyone else has this happen to them. I don't know anything about fatty livers and hope yours gives you no problems!

I sure was hoping some eles has had this happen to them, so I would know what to expect next! I hoping maybe this is just an infected cyst. Does anyone know if that can happen?Thanks Debbie

i have a simple cyst on the liver my doctor said they are frequent and benign;;they will not hurt you...just to ignore them

A friend of mine has one of these and is about to go for the aspiration. It had doubled in size since the last scan.They did mention possible infection. I'd be curious as to what happened with yours since this last post.
