Hi everyone,
I may be put onto anti depressants in the near future, and I'm just wondering if they will make my bcp less effective? I know that some anti biotics, may cause this, but would an anti depressant? Thanks!

Hello

I have been on birth control for about 8 years and some form of anti depressant/anxiety meds for about 5. No one has ever told me that it interferes with the pill, and thankfully i have never gotten pregnant. (not ready just yet). Im trying to recall if i ever saw it as a warning on the pamphlet the pharmacy gives you, which i normally always read. I dont recall seeing anyhting that i remember (which im sure i would have!) and no one has ever said anything to me...
And yes certain antibiotics do but anti depressants are different.
So i would say no.

I asked my doctor this when I went on Paxil and she said that it wouldn't interfere with my birth control
