Hey Ladies,
Just want to let you know I am right in the middle of the strike zone for Hurrricane Ivan. My horomones make me nervous now and this is a Catagory 4 storm. That is a very big storm and dangerous. We are staying here instead of trying to leave. That can get nerve wrecking too. Just please say a prayer for all of us here on the Gulf Coast. I am on the Alabama Gulf Coast.
Hope all of you are feeling better today. I'm hanging in--- hurricane and horomones not a good combo trust me!

Hi Penny! I will pray for all of you. My nephew is down at the airforce base and also in the panhandle. I have prayed even for the ones in the caribbean. Keep us informed, but I won't stop praying. I know with the nerves over the hurricane and the peri-anxiety, you are probably feeling very strung out right now.

DipityThanks for the reply Dipity. It has weakened from a 5 to a 4 but they are not expecting it to weaken any more, but only God knows about that. It is headed right for us we are dead center in the projection path. I will keep all of you informed as long as I can.

I just remembered I might have a little power on my computer battery backup - so I wanted ya'll to know we are safe. No power no phone, it is HOT and our property is a mess, but no damage to the house and we are safe thank God!! And by the way I was 44 on Thursday so peri and IVAN what a great birthday, but that puts me just a little closer to getting to menopause and being through with this!! YES-- hope you all are ok. I will post again when we get power.

Penny,
So glad you are OK!! Watched the news and saw what a mess Ivan made not to mention the number of lives that were loss. Very devastating! Thank goodness you home wasn't damaged! I have a friend who lives in Alpharetta, Georgia who I haven't heard from so I'm a worried about her too.
By the way, a big happy birthday wish to you! Not only are you closer to menopause but you're closer to having a hard time reading small prints and can't thread a needle (if you're not already there!) LOL! :D The joys of getting older!!
Hey, please keep us posted on how you're doing and how you are feeling!
Stay safe and warm hugs,

mollyHi Molly!!
Electricity is back on today!!!! :bouncing: Almost been a week. I am so glad to be back online and back to the board and to have air conditioning!! It has been 80 degrees and up inside the house!! We have been using fans. But no complaints, we did not have any structual damage just trees down and our property is a mess. BUT.... thank God we are all safe, we had a lot of people praying for us. My clients and friends in the Pensacola FL area and South Alabama areas did not fair as well. They were on the east side of IVAN and that is the worse side of a hurricane to be on. They are all safe thank God, but they have LOTS of damage.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, and yes already I can not read small print without reading glasses!! :D
I went through IVAN with 1 mg of Klonopin in 25 1/2 hours! :bouncing: I have only had 1/8 in daytime a couple of times so I am getting off of the Klonopin little by little. I am SO much better!
Another happy thought - I started my period on day 19 of my cycle!!! This peri stuff is so weird I have been a constant 28 days for the past 3 months- oh well at least the Peri can keep life interesting.
Trust you are doing well, have you heard from your friend in GA? Please post when you can.
Hugs,
Penny

Hi Penny,
Hey, welcome back to civilization! The main thing is that you're OK! Don't get yourself stressed over things - nothing can change the damage that has already been made. Your house will be fixed and back to normal soon. remember, there's no hurry to have everything done right away either!!You have been doing so well lately - you don't want to fit rock bottom again! Also, glad you're not needing the Klonopin as much as before. I'm sure it's is encouraging to see there has been some progress, especially how badly you felt last year!
Still haven't heard from my friend in GA. She might have gone out of town....I will try to call her again later today.
My sister and her son are staying with me! Posted on another thread that my sister had a hysterecomy so I'm playing nurse, mother, cook, dishwasher, laundry lady, errand lady, and driver. Geez! I am not accustom to all this! LOL! First of all, not used to having so many people in my house, not to mention cooking for someone other than just myself, having to drive my nephew to school in the morning and making lunch for him. The Ladyship and His Lordship are having a good time here - getting pampered and spoiled. LOL!
Also, have a work deadline this week plus have to walk two dogs that belong to my neighbor this week too. Busy, busy! So glad I'm feeling well enough to do all this!
Hope to see you posting some more!! Oh, congrats on getting your period! As with all this peri stuff - DON'T expect things to be the way they were! Remember, there will be a time when you suddenly start missing your periods!! Missing my period is fine with me - it's all the other crappy symptoms I fear!
Gotta go - Hugs,
Molly

WOW!!! You sure must be feeling better---- :)
I am glad to hear your sister finnaly had a hyst. I can't believe she went for so long bleeding like she was. I sure hope she recovers well and begins to feel much better.
I am not stressing about being behind with my work or that outside is a mess. We did not have any damage to the house and we have a clean-up crew and tree service working on the yard. So I am just doing what I can one thing at a time. I am exicted about not having to take as much Klonopin. Just to think back to this time last year---
I really am doing so much better. I will have to start walking Trace and Roxy more now that the weather will cool off.
Oh btw my friends are declaring October 16 my "this year birthday" since Ivan took my real birthday on September 16th! :) I thought that was sweet of them to try and make up for it. I am just glad to be ok and everyone and everything here to be ok.
Take Care of yourself---

Hi Penny, Glad you are ok. Thats great your house didn't have any structrual damage. We live in Polk county Florida which is between Tampa and Orlando. Our area was hit pretty hard. Charley was bad but Frances was the worse. We lost our Airconditioning unit and things like cable. Our lights were out but not very long. But with our an Air conditioner it didn't really matter. We didn't have major damage either. Just yard and little problems with roof tiles. Things are better now. I am so glad we didn't have to go through Ivan also. I didn't realize how stressed we were until things calmed down. I hated to see Ivan hit the panhandle of Florida and Alabama. As well as the other states. Its been a hard couple months for so many people.

LindaYes it has Linda. I know that having to go through what you have with the weather has not helped your symptoms of Peri. I too am glad you did not have to deal with Ivan. It was such a monster storm. We were so blessed to have nothing but a trashed yard. We have 3 drives and a cricle drive and several walkways you could not see any of them for the leaves limbs trees down sticks twig and on and on....
Hope you are feeling better today.

Are you surviving being a "nurse", "mother" etc...?
Just checking to see if you are ok and checking on your sister? Hope everything is going ok. Please post when you can. Did you hear from your friend in GA?

Hi Penny,
My sister is still here...think she is going home today. She seems to be fine - she has been walking around and stuff, able to cook and eat, etc. In fact, she felt good enough to restain some of my yard furniture for me! Told her she gotta earn her keep! LOL! Anyway, she had a full hystectomy and the dr. didn't put her on any estrogen as some drs. seem to do. She isn't having any symptoms at all. She says that she has a lot of fat cells and her body is producing estrogen thata way. The only pain she is experiencing is the vein in her hand from the IV. She has an appt. next week so we will have to see what the dr. has to say.
I have been fine...just not used to having other people living in my house....kind of broke my routine a bit but I try to go about my business.
Did hear from my friend today via e-mail from GA. She is fine, thank goodness. She was in Canada when Ivan hit her home - seems like it knocked some old trees down which saved her some money now from having to get them cut down. Didn't fall onto her house or garage. There is a mess but her family is helping her clean up.
So, how have you been feeling? Are you cleaning up your place? Are you feeling anxiety of any kind? Aside from the new car you got, did you get anything great and special for your birthday?
Keep us posted....take care...
hugs,
molly

Keep us posted....take care...
hugs,
mollyHi Molly,
I am sorry I am so long getting back to you. I had a message yesterday morning when I tried to access the board that said I was banned! I checked with the moderator and I was not banned there was a problem with my IP address. So I am back on now!!
I am glad your sister is well enough to go home. I know you are glad to get back to your usual routine. I am also glad to hear your friend in GA is ok.
Our clean-up process ended today. Our client who has a tree service FINALLY came today. Last week we hired 2 guys for 8 hours per day to rake the yard and pick up limbs etc and pile it up so they could carry it away today. So our lawn maintenance guy is the only one left to come in now and we will have a normal yard again! :bouncing: We own 4.25 acres and we cleared a little over 2 of it so that is our "yard" :) .
As for me I am doing really well. I had no anxiety during the hurricane and no anxiety afterwards-- thank God!!
I am now taking only the 1mg of Klonopin at night. I have dropped the .5 at mid-day!!! :bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing:
So I have come along way and I am so grateful to be better. I need to schedule my exam and blood work with my GP and also my annual exam with the endo/gyn--joy--joy :p
I sure hope you are doing good-- please post again soon.
HUGS!!
Penny

Hi Penny,
My sister went home last Sunday! It is nice having my place back to normal and by myself! Her dr. gave her some HRT (Premarin?) samples in case she started to have symptoms. So far, the only difference I noticed are these mood swings! A very sensitive subject to discuss especially when one is in denial...if you know what I mean...
It is great to hear you aren't having anxiety like before! Don't you think if you were having a hard time managing anxiety, it would have surface esp. during the hurricane? I would think something like that would make anyone a nervous wreck!! It sure sounds like you have a beautiful place, not to mention it is huge! I don't know how you can manage a place that big! I remember you said you didn't even have a housekeeper!
So, do you really think you need the Klonopin on a regular basis? Maybe you be trying to wean off of it? The Paxil CR is suppose to help with the anxiety to the point where you would not need an anxiety med. At least it seems like you're heading the right direction and feeling a heck of a lot better than you did a year ago! I guess that is what matters right now!
I am going for my mammogram next week. I can deal with that but I hate going to the gyn! LOL! I rather have a root canal and gum surgery anyday! :D
Post when you have time....

Molly :wave:Molly,
You cannot possibly want a root canal instead of a gyn visit!! :D I have had several root canals and I'd rather go to the gyn and have a mammogram! Well that is based on my past gyn visits, something different could happen at the one this month and I might have to update that opinion with you! :)
Actually I am trying to wean off the Klonopin. I am now moving my 1mg at 7pm every night until a little later each night, than I will go to .5 at night for a couple of weeks and then go down to 1/4 and then 1/8 until I am off. Yes if I were going to have anxiety it would be during a hurricane. But we were so blessed not to hear much inside the house and we were on the west side of the hurricane the east side always gets the worst of it. Now a CAT 3 hurricane and we were on the east side, I would be leaving!!!
I sure hope your sister gets some help with her mood swings. Maybe she should try the natural estrogen, like my natural progesterone cream. I am sure you dont want to be the one to suggest that! :)
Well, I will get back to work. Have a great day and post again soon!!
Hugs,

Penny,
Yes, yes, yes - :bouncing: most definitely I would rather have a root canal or two than a gyn visit. Hey, I actually have fallen asleep almost when I got a root canal LOL! and I don't get the laughing gas either! As for the gyn, I think I get embarrassed and it hurts like hell - plus, I always bleed... I have dryness and the gyn prescribed me Estrace before but I don't use it b/c my GP doesn't think it is a good idea. Said there is other stuff to use besides that.
It is great to hear you weaning off of the Klonopin - don't you feel good that you made some progress since last year? I think back at this time period last year and how horrible I was feeling - boy! I am so glad I'm not like that anymore!
Yep, you're right - I can't tell my sister what to do - she is a year older but treats me like I'm 50 years younger. She is one of those who will always know more than I do....ho hum...
I don't know how you can deal with those hurricanes! Don't know much about them but do you get them every year??? Yikes!
Hugs,
molly

mollyMy oldest sister turned 58 today, so yes I know all about that. I am the baby of the family by 12 years. My other sister was 12 when I was born, she is the one who died in 1990 at 40 years old from Advanced Malignant Melanoma. That is why I freaked out so bad last year when my GP saw that mole on my torso and said it HAD to come off NOW!! Thus I went head-long into hysteria!! My sister's Melanoma started in a mole on her back, it was a much larger mole than mine. Needless to say I did not get in the tanning bed this summer. We have had a tanning bed since 1997, and also had a pool at the house we owned before we built this one. We bought a new nicer bigger tanning bed in May of last year, but no one wants me to get in it. The mole I had removed came after we bought the first tanning bed, and I did not abuse the bed and stay great lengths of time either. So I am now pale and that is ok compared to the hell I went through last year waiting to have the mole removed and get the path report back.
I am sorry you have such a hard time at the gyn. You have spunk, I know some women who would not go if it caused them such discomfort.
It does make me feel much better to cut back on the Klonopin, I know I have made progress and like you said since this time last year - Oh boy, so much better.
Hope you had a good day---

Hi Penny,
I think if malignant melanoma runs in your family, you should not take the risk of being out in the sun too much or use a tanning bed. Even though it is nice to have a nice tan color, it is a high price to pay. I don't lay in the sun at all - I can't stay still long enough, can't stand the heat, plus it really ages your skin. I have been told I look more like I'm in my late 30's than 51!
I use those self-tanning products that they have out these days. Neutrogena and L'oreal works really good for me. Doesn't look orangy or streaky like in the old days when they had nothing but Coppertone! LOL! They now have these self-tanning towelettes for your face too. Something you might want to check out the next time you go shopping.
I am so glad you're feeling better! Life can be grand again for some of us, huh? I have already starting warning some of my friends who are in their 40's and haven't had any symptoms yet....but then again, I have couple of girlfriends who hasn't gone through anything and one is 52 and another is 56! Their periods hasn't even been irregular!
Have a good day, Penny....it is nice to always hear from you!

molly :wave:Wow that must be great to look like you are in your late 30's!!!Thetan is not worth the risk. I did not try any self tanners this summer, maybe next year I will explore that.
I have already told 3 of my friends one just turned 40, one is in her 20's and the other is 38 that will not have to make any doctors appointments when they begin to have symptoms they can just call me I will be able to tell them about any and every thing associated with peri and menopause!! :)
Thanks for writing--have a good day!!
