I may have to move soon and was wondering if anyone could recommend a great autistic school anywhere in the US? [ removed ], I can basically move anywhere but my main concern are my two young autistic sons. Would love some recommendations! Thanks!

well, from what I hear, there are alot of Autistic kids in my school district. I also have heard form my DAN! doctor, that ppl move around my house because all of the services in this area.
I live in PA, Allegheny county, and we have a health care plan that atomatically takes kids with Autism. They cover EVERYTHING down to the vitimans if you can get you dr to proscribe them. In the state of PA, you can also get interventiong threw the school district for the age of 3-21 and early intervention also... threw a program called DART. I hear that we are one of the BEST places to go. We have a large selection of healthfood stores, DAN! doctors, and biomedical interventions....
I hope this helps.

Thank you 2cutekids. I appreciate the info! I have heard that services are good all around that area. I've especially been hearing a lot about New Jersey and their innovative programs. Does anyone have any autistic children attending any schools in NJ? Would love to hear about it. Thanks! And thanks again 2cutekids!

Hi, I live in NJ. My son is really autistic- like the Rainman. He has been going to school at Douglas Developmental Center at Rutgers U. for the last 13yr. or so. We are very happy with the school. We had him in the wrong school when he was 4yr. and after a search found this one. I don't know how it is for inclusion because my son could never handle that. But this school is great. There is also a school called Eden Institue that is supposed to be good. There are others. I am not happy with the state services, tho. The DDD division of the state that handles autistic kids has given us nothing but the run around. They are always telling you they are out of $.For the last two years, there has been a freeze on spending. Now, I am told, they won't even return your phone calls. Again, no $. This is not a kid friendly state. Check it out before you move. dj[pat]
