You are not going crazy. Many of us have/had the symptoms you are going through. Hopefully, you will be lucky and not get the hot flashes but don't be surprise if you do. Are you taking any meds? vitamins? Have you seen a doctor? Lots of ladies can give you good advice here so keep posting.

Please let us know your story...also, welcome!!

Hi Icarthew, Have you had your hormones tested lately? I know what the reports say about HRTs, but their are some natural ones out there and it can sure make your life easier to cope with! I think menapause is just as difficult on the husbands....I called it going into my cave time of life. That was just peri-menapause.......UGH.......

Now I'm in menapause and I have opted for HRTs because my symtoms are too great and I want to live a sane life. If you haven't already talked with your GYN, you might want to talk to him/her about alternatives.

I remember being 35 and talking with some of the older ladies that had gone through menapuase already. And one in particular stands out at me.........This lady said, you feel like your losing your mind. Now I know what she meant...........

You don't have to suffer........there are several wonderful books on peri-menapause and menapause out there. :)

icarthew....You have found the perfect place to help you through this! I had and am still having exactly the same symptoms you have. Mine started about this time last year in August and I am just now the last month or so leveling out. It put me in such a tailspin...I am normally healthy, brush off any minor aches and pains, mentally stable and my cycles were always regular and the same but I am telling you it hit me all at once like a ton of bricks!!! I never had the traditional "Hot flash" either, but all the rest on your list I have had, especially the gastro troubles. They were the worst of the horrible list for me. Finally realizing that I was NOT crazy, that the things that were happening were physical and there was a cause, has allowed me to realize I can help myself get a bit better, or at least tolerant and understanding of my body. (with the help of my doc and educating myself and the great women here!). I have changed my diet a bit, started taking b-complex, cal/mag and calcium with D...and acidophillus helps me with my tummy troubles. My doctor perscribed an antidepressant that I take when I absolutely have to and let me tell you, it has really helped me. It's like a vicious cycle...the peri symptoms make you anxious, the anxiety magnifies everything thats wrong and so on and so on. I am finally having more good days than bad (fingers crossed, knock wood) but it is a battle for some of us. Just know you are NOT crazy!!!! Stick with us girl...it truly will help you feel better!

I am right there with you! May I ask how old you are? I'm 45 and for the past year, things started to fall apart for me. Ovarian cysts, gastro stuff almost daily! My lower back is always killing me! The week of my period is pretty much when I feel my "best" oddly enough. I've had many tests and nothing found. So, can we chalk it up to "peri-menopause"? I don't know what else.

Welcome to the board. You will see your story repeated here with all of us trying to understand what's going on with us and trying to help each other. I read the menopause board daily because, just like you, "i basically feel like i have something wrong we me everyday." That's me!

How long will this last? Will it get better?

Take good care.

Welcome to this site. I have found it very helpful to hear what other women going thru the same thing have to say. Have your periods stopped or are you still in the peri-menopausal stage?

My periods are every 24 days or so. They used to be every 28-31 days. If that were the only thing I had to deal with, I'd be in good shape!

I'm right with you and to be honest with you, i give up. I will just accept that all the lightheadness, dizziness, hot flashes, early/late or two day periods, anxiety like heck, back/neck pain, muscle twitches, cramps, stomach, etc. as perimenopause. so.....????????????

It was several months after my periods stopped completely before I got hot flashes. Some people never get them. Menopause (for me) is significantly better than perimeno. I celebrate every day that I do not have periods.
