Will anybody fill me in on VRT excercises? WHere i can go get them and wht they do? Ive been getting over constant vertigo for awhile now and ive got the foggy headed feeling which comes about when your vision is relied upon too much by your brain to compensate for your injured vestibular system. I have a physical therapist whose helping me with gaze fixation excercises, but are there any other excercises that can spead up my compensation or help with the foggy, confused head feeling?

Do a google search for cawthorne cooksey . These are not ideal as a generic program is overkill for some people and not even provoking for others. The best form of VRT is a custom program devised especially for you by a trained Vestibular Physio Therapist, these can address your specific weaknesses and studies have shown them to be far superior to generic programs.

I took VRT for 3 months. I live in Winston-Salem,nc where Bowman Gray School of Medicine is located. I simply asked my dr. to write a "presciption" for me to take it. I really got so much better...I did the exercises between therapy sessions and worked very hard. I am fortunate that they have a community program at the rehab center that I can go to everyday if I want and use the equipment that we used in the actual therapy. ....and I do go at least twice a week and continue to do the exercises at home daily. Surly, there is therapy in your town...just ask your dr. There are 2 therapist at the center that specialize in VRT.

Hello Jezzie25
I had great success last year with VRT but started in again with dizziness, disequilibrium and visual problems again this summer. My rehab center is almost an hour away and driving down the mountain is impossible some days. I live in a rural area in NE Pa. I am walking daily for about 30 minutes but I notice that I am watching the ground. Probably not a good idea. It there any way you can share your exercises? I was only given a few that I do on a foam pad.
I am having a lot of ear fullness along with my dizziness but Dr's insist I do not have Meniere's. This is with me 27/7 these days. I am still taking Antivert and Ativan when I feel really bad and also take it whenever I have to go anywhere (long drive, restaurant, etc.) I understand the meds can delay the compensation. Do you feel the need to take anything for your problem?

Thanks for any input. Have a great day
Linda
