Hey guys,
I have had social anxiety for quite some time now, it got real bad. I have always done exercise, mostly running and surfing. I can onhestly say that my anxiety and mental health was at its worst the during times when i exercised little.
I am now on an exercise plan which I strictly adhere to everyday. Quite a bit of strenous (cardiovascular) exercise like running mixed with less strenous exercise like surfing, walking etc.
I can honestly say that regular exercise is helping me get through the problems I have had in my life. I am happy, I am calm, I can meet people in the eye, my body is happy - a healthy body is a healthy mind they say, it may be a cliche but its damn true..

That's awesome that it helped you out, but I've been on a regimented routine for 2 years now and it's done nothing for my anxiety :(

exercise will help if its done in a relaxed way, with deep slow breathing and no excess muscle tension

my psychologist ALWAYS told me every session i should be doing cardio every day for at least 30 minutes...
uhh..not everyone has time or can do that...especially if your a smoker
anyways, i do about 20 minutes every other day..and try to do some walking every day...i dont find too much of a difference

I have to say that when I excercise I often get a panic attack  I do cardio 45 minutes twice a week and I have been doing it for a year now. Almost everytime I get a panic attack. I won't let it keep me from excersing but it does keep me from working out as much and as hard as I would like to.
