My friend has strawberry birthmarks on her back. She showed them to at one time when we were discussing birthmarks. Since then, she came to me & showed me her back again because she wanted me to see something. There were more spots now. The origional ones had been there since birth, but now all of a sudden there were these other spots. They kind of looked like the birth marks, except they were a little more brown or tan colored. The new spots, like the birthmarks, are light colored. However, the birthmarks are mostly pinkish looking. Some but not all of the new spots, may be tinted a little red or pink, but they are all more tan looking than anything. Well, they aren't raised. They're flat. I am about positive they aren't moles. I know some moles are flat, but these don't look like moles, anyway. I doubt they'd be from the sun because she doesn't expose her back to the sun. She keeps it covered up. Also, oddly, she had a couple of these spots pop up around her right forearm. They look just like the ones on her back. She said her mom said it could be a fungus. She is a clean person, but I know that doesn't mean that she can't have fungus. If it were a fungus would it itch? I don't think it's a rash, because I am pretty sure a rash would itch or something. My friend said these spots do not itch. I don't think she can even feel them. Well, anyway, she rubbed them with an alcohol soaked cotton ball & said some of them have faded some, but are still there. The ones on her back do NOT trail to the ones on her arm. Anyways, her aunt has reoccurring skin cancer. My friend said that she went to the doctor every year to get the cancer cut off again. Anyone have any idea what these spots could be? My friend doesn't like seeing doctors because for one thing she has no insurance, no current income, and no medical card. Any ideas as to what this could be are appreciated. I swear it looks like the birth mark has spread, except the new spots are slightly different in color. I mean they look that similar. It's weird. Thanks for the help.
