Been on 40 mgs of lexapro for the past 3-4 months... Im having trouble maintaining an erection during sex now :( The drug does wonders for my mood so I would hate to have to get off of it... Anybody else ever experience this problem? And if so were you able to come up with any solutions? Thanks so much for any feedback...

Have you asked your doc about it? They should be able to offer some useful advice or add another med to help.

40 mgs seems like kind of a high dose. Maybe a slight decrease would help? Something worth discussing w/your doc.

Loss of Libido and Ejaculatory Delay are recognized side effects of Lexapro. Inability to get an erection I'm not so sure of, though it certainly could be argued that if your libido is diminished, you just may not feel like getting it up. 40 mg is a pretty high dose, so I can see your problem related to the drug.

Definitely bring it to the the attention of the doctor who prescribed it. Viagra may help, if you really want to continue with that dosage of the Lex.

Trazadone is one anti-d that most often does NOT have any sexual side effects, you may want to ask you doctor to prescribe one with less chance of those side effects.

it's a common side effect with meds like lexapro and effexor. Not really a lot to do about it. Some doctors will add in wellbutrin because it can counter the sexual side effects of the other medicines. But do you really want to take MORE meds? The best solution is an understanding partner who is willing to experiment with you to find "creative" solutions! ;)

Iam A Female And Have Been Taking Lex For About A Month Now, Starting Off With 10mg Now On 30mg This Past Wk. I Havent Had Any Problems Sex Wise. If Anything More Into It, More Energy. I Also Take Triliptal N Trazadone. I Really Dont Like Trazadone. It Makes Me Get Real Sleepy, But Yet When I Sleep, I Can Only Sleep A Few Hours(3-5) And Iam Up The Rest Of The Time, Tired N With A Massive Headache. I Also Agree About That 40mg Is A Hight Dose, And That Maybe You Should Get A Decrease And/or Try A New Drug.
