I had posted a couple weeks ago about being upset with what the doctors office nurse had said to me. She said I was normal on my numbers and that I didn't need to come back. When I called back and ask to have my blood work sent to me she told me the doctor did want to see me again. I made it back to him Friday. He did give me a prescription for bioidentical hormone cream. It has estradial 2 and 3 progesterone and DHEA. I ask him to give me another blood test to check the progesterone and DHEA he said it wasn't neccessary. I have read a few of you are using just progesterone aren't you. My estradial was 5 which is very normal so now I am going to be using estrogen along with progesterone. The doctor says as we get older even though the hormones are there our bodies loose the ability to utilize it. I guess I am going to give it a try. What can I expect could happen if I have all this extra estrogen? I am mainly worried about breast cancer and stroke which unfortuanately I won't know is happening until its already done. He did say I could expect to have these symptoms of perimenoupause until about 52. He also said these could help me feel better for a while and then they won't and we do need to readjust them. This doctor seems very intelligent and knowledgeable even though his office is a bit disorganized. I hope I don't get my system all messed up with this. Still I am glad at least he is willing to give it a try and didn't just send me on my way. Linda

I have not been able to get online due to the Hurricane. I read your post and I can only speak for Bio-Identical Natural Progesterone Cream. I have been on it since February. It has helped me although it is much stronger than the OTC creams. It is made by a compounding pharmacist. I do not know about the cream you have been prescribed. Maybe you should ask your doctor for the pharmacist name and number who compounded the cream, or you may already know that, anyway talk with the pharmacist about it. That could shed some insight into what to really expect from a cream with so many horomones in it. Hope you are feeling ok today.

Thank you Penny. I don't know why he would prescribe so much stuff. Especailly when they were telling me my estrogen was high. I don't expect people to really know what to tell me like a doctor would. Any thoughts would be nice.

LindaMY first blood test showed a progesterone level of 1!! So I began to research my symptoms via the internet and found I was Estrogen Dominant. The first 3 cycles on the Bio-Identical Natural Progesterone Cream caused my Estrogen Dominant symptoms to be MUCH worse. By the 5th cycle things had calmed and now I am much better. This past cycle was my 8th cycle of using the cream. I just have never read anything on the type of cream your doc prescribed. I am seeing and Endocrinologist/Gyn. Maybe if you are not seeing an Endo you might consider that.

Hi Penny, At least now I know that I have high estrogen which was one of the reasons I didn't get the progesterone cream in the first place like at GNC because I wasn't sure what I was dealing with. Now at least I know I have more than enough estrogen. I do have a saliva test kit. I called another hormone doctors office and that is what they use. They use a pharmacy that keeps the test kits and you send them in yourself. I might just wait and use it and get a reading on my progesterone before trying the cream the doctor prescribed. I have to wait until the Luteal (?) something part of my cycle to take the salvia test. Between waiting for the Luteal part and the length of time it takes to get the test results I have some wait time. I looked for Endocrinologist in our phone book but didn't see any listed. I might have to go out of town for one like I did for these hormone doctors. I really shouldn't be complaining. At least the doctor listened to me and acted like we women know what we are talking.
Did you ever find out why progesterone made your symptoms of Estrogen dominance worse? Glad your doing good on progesterone now. I guess I shouldn't expect to much to soon.

LindaThe reason my Estrogen Dominance symptoms were much worse is because for so long Estrogen was the dominant horomone and I had hardly any Progesterone to offset it. So it was like when I started using the Progesterone the Estrogen said "Hey this is my territory and started acting really bad :) ". Simple example I know but that is really how my body reacted to it. I have read lots of book and spent hours on the internet researching this Horomone Inbalance I have. That is how the Endo diagnosied me.
I have had my 3 blood test for Progesterone in the Luteal Stage of my cycle. The Luteal Stage is the time between ovulation and the start of your next cycle.
