Just wondering if anyone has tried yoga to help relief TMJD symptoms. I was talking to my mom about it, and we have found a pattern, , that shows my problem is alot worse when I am more stressed, and when I can't ease my mine of the fact that I have it. Then I get tension, especially in my neck and jaw, and eventually, if I can't relax, my whole neck feels sore and swollen, from the muscles sqeezing everything so tight.
Anyways. She had mentioned that she took a few yoga classes a few months back, and they taught her how to let go of things that are beyond her control, and centre your mind. Maybe this would work for me? Has anyone tried, or have a regular yogo routine that works to relieve the symptoms? And would you recommend it.
PS. Getting all my widsom teeth our tomorrow....YIKES

I like the tapes or dvds you can follow along with. I use Wai Lana Relaxation Workout.
and her Beginners Workout. Any relaxation or beginner workout would probably be just fine though. It is good to learn proper deep breathing techniques first though. That is, inhaling deeply through the abdomen not through shallow breathing through the chest. Your Mom probably learned this in her class and can teach you. Yoga helps me relieve stress and feel more relaxed; hopefully you will enjoy it as well.

I have been doing it for the stress too. However I do find some of the poses irritate my neck. On enight I cam home and it had spasmed or something,I couldnt stop gulping. So just be careful of sertain poses stretching the neck o r so too quickly.. Gosh I TRY to relax though. Havent been able to tune it all out yet...
