Hi All!
I want to get my hair colored, but am hestitant due to my last highlighting experience. I have medium brown hair and got blond highlights 2 years ago. After about 2 weeks, my hair was dry and looked gray. I was even good to my hair and used Redken Shades shampoo. We have a well and my beautician said this was the reason. She said I should also use a shampoo that is made for well water. I have enough shampoo bottles in my shower already!!
The best luck I had with hair color was about 10 years ago when I used Preference by Loreal. I did it myself ever month or so for 2 years. My hair was soft and I loved the color. I don't know to go back to Loreal or go the salon. I just don't want the color to get flat, or my hair to dry out.
Any suggestions or past experiences?

I have a friend that is blonde and when she washes her hair in well water it goes orange. She has found that she need to use bottled water for her hair. She still bathes in the well water she just washes her hair seperately. Just an idea.

I have well water too, and was told to buy a clarifying shampoo and add a bit of it to my regular shampoo to keep the brassy tones down, i just started using this though,so its hard to say right yet if its working.Only been using it a few days.

I too dye my hair blond tones and use well water with softeneres but within time it urns brazzy oranges and then the hairdressers have to add nuetrizers but if I use shamppos that are blue for grey hair it does not happen. try the blue.

Well I also have well water...I also color my hair and have highlights...the water not only ruined my hair...but it would ruin my clothes as well...anything that was black turned ugly and faded...We went and bought a water softener and chlorinator...have the best water now...no smells...hair is great and clothes stay the color they are when I bought them. I would suggest a clarifying shampoo/conditioner though.
