Hey Everyone,

I have found something thats works great for me and some of my friends. People are spending so much money on dermabrasion and everything else out there. Well a very good friend of mine told me about what she does and I have been doing this for a month and half already.

Eveyone knows that lots of water and good nutrition help the face for one. Well I have been using a pumice stone to shrub my face of scars, discoloration and it's working great. I just love it Really!!! In time your face will feel so soft and renewed. We are working on our little fine lines now and that seems to be also working.

What we do is after taking shower, bath or washing face. Take your stone and shrub softly but hard enough. I do it in circles and rub alittle harder on scars. Make sure your face is kindda moist. Don't shrub on dry skin. After you shrub your face wash with a mild soap and apply neosporin to your face. Yes, thats what she told me neosporin. I do have another friend who uses vit E oil. I got a square stone but she got a Dr. Scholl pumice stone it's rounded on the ends and it's better to get around the nose.

I just thought I would let you all know of this cause it really works. Who would have thought...

Take Care,
Dix http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/heart.gif

That would be sort of like using a Buff Puff, right? Or a loofah?

Also, I'd assume you don't scrub individual pimples, and you don't apply Neosporin to individual pimples, right? Whenever I put Neosporin on a pimple, even a popped one, it clogs back up!

Thanks for answering my questions! :)

What you are doing with the pumice stone causes some swelling which makes the wrinkles disappear. Very similar to Dermabrassion.

good girl-does that mean that after the sweeling goes away the wrinkles come back-seems like scrubbing my face with this would do more damage than good-who knows-

Crazy yes I put it over my whole face. I know my face it much softer and looks better. LOL I am waiting for all the wrinkles to go away. LOL Wishfull thinking.

Goodgirl my face doesn't swell. Have you done this? Maybe I am doing something wrong? I just know it's helping me. I see a glow that I use to have when I will younger.

wattagirl I really can't tell you if the wrinkles come back cause mine are just starting to go away. It is helping also with a couple of scars that I had from chicken pox long ago. And I never have gotten pimples since useing it.

LOL don't we wish we had a magic wand and make our skin young looking and gorgeous. LOL

So if I go into Wal-Mart, I just look in the pharmacy department? And is there a specific name for the rocks? I can't wait to use it.

Hi.. i have heard of using Neosporin for scars, its supose to help fade them, and also if they are fresh scars, speed up the healing process. So i guess, after you use the pumice stone, putting on the Neosporin helps heal up where you scrubbed and lessen any scaring maybe.

Hi all,
I'm 46 and I've used abrasives (pumice stones, buf-pufs, scrubs, etc.) for 30 years because they work, just as Dixie described. The down side is that you end up with a LOT of raised capillaries, you know, those tiny red lines on your face. The good news is that the positive effects of abrasives are real and long-lasting because exfoliation of any kind causes your body to produce lots of new skin cells... think of the smooth skin you get when a skinned knee heals. You just have to decide if it's worth all those little red "spider" veins on your face.
For me, it's been worth it!
P.S. Be sure to follow with a very gentle moisturizer like Cetaphil, or even mineral oil or vaseline.

Well, I guess you all know that the spider viens are removable with diathermy cosmetic treatment it is electricity that sizzles those ugly little viens, I know it works cause ive had it done and it is instant and permanment,, ( dont know if that is what they call it outside of australia but ) check it out its worth it ...

Hi everybody, My name is Michaune and this is the first time I've posted a message on this particular board.
My question is this...why would you use a pumice stone on your face. While it is very effective for callouses, corns and those rough spots on the soles of our feet and elbows, I don't really see this being good for delicate areas such as your face.

My dermatologist has always told me that constant scrubbing of the skin on your face will only irritate your existing condition. She also recommended that I use a good beauty regimen that will not only clear up those existing conditions, but one that will prevent future breakouts as well.

She recommended Nicole Miller's skincare and cosmetic line. I don't know if you guys are familiar with Nicole Miller or not, but she is a high profile New York beauty/fashion consultant who came up with her own line.

Her products are awesome!!!! and they put the leading department store brands like Lancome, Elizabeth Arden and Clinique to shame!! Not only in effectiveness, but price wise as well. The only down side to this is you can only purchase her products through a catalog, so they aren't availabe in your local dept. store. However, I definitely think it's worth it. We all want a skincare/beauty regimen that's going to work from the inside out and Nicole Miller does that.

No offense to those of you who are trying the pumice stone and if it's working for you GREAT!! But for those of us who have super sensitive skin, I think Nicole Miller is the way to go.

I welcome any comments or concerns that you may have.

Hi Greenapple,
Neosporin is the brand name of a popular American Antibacterial cream. It comes in a small tube and has the appearance and consistency of petroleum jelly (which it probably is, plus an antibacterial element).

i would strongly strongly recommend not to use a pumice stone on ur face ur skin on ur face is highly senstive and useing a pumice stone will proberbly not only scrap ur skin off but will also shave off ur minute hairs that we all have all over our faces not noticeable but knock them out and there,ll grow back black and thicker all over ur face where u,ve scrubed not adviseable even cream scubs say gently wash over face scrub lightly with a pumice stone is like useing sandpaper dont do it !

The idea that shaving hair will make it come back darker and thicker has been proven to be a myth.

I've tried the pumice stone two days in a row now and I love what it does. You do have to be gentle, however, but it is pretty miraculous. I even had a few blackheads come out in the process. My skin feels so smooth and the little rough parts sanded down nicely. My skin was only red a short time and I was careful to wash with a splash of water and then apply Neosporin. THANKS FOR A WONDERFUL TIP!

I was reading your secret about the pumice stone and I am a bit confused. You keep saying that one needs to "shrub" with the stone-do you mean "scrub"? Or is shrub a special term that I don't know about? What is shrub?

I have scars and scabs from picking pimples across my chest. Will this pumice stone/neosporin trick work for this?

How expensive are the stones?

I just bought the stone and the neosporin and decided just to try it.

I used it on my feet and followed it up with my a moisturizer, and the skin feels wonderful. So if it doesn't work for my scars and whatnot, I can always use it for that.

I tried it on the area I needed. Right now it's a bit red...it actually looks worse, but I have a feeling that that will go away. I have the neosporin on it as well. Hoping that it will work!!

How often do you do this? Every day? It feels great though!

Just NEVER do it on dry skin - my finger is bleeding because I accidently rubbed it against a knuckle. OUCH!

I'm really being optimistic about this now...and dreaming of the day when I can wear low cut shirts again! (I don't think I'll be using this on my face until AFTER prom.)

This is making me a little nervous...I had my 1st visit with a Dermatologist and he said to never use acne wash or scrubs on the face...it irratates it more...so when you use this pumice stone...are you using any cleanser with it? What is I were to use a salt-scrub...would that be pretty close to this? I just don't want to rip my face apart anymore... :)

I wouldn't do it every day, but it is great when used very gently. I think it's less harsh than scrubbing grains which I will not use. It is good for getting dead skin off surrounding a scab or blackheads that are starting to dislodge. I wouldn't use it on anything healing (the center of a scab or red mark), but only places where a very light sanding would be beneficial. It really will make your skin soft, but it's all in the touch. YES, do make sure the stone is well-lubricated with a cleanser or lotion.

What is the purpose of using neosporin afterward? Could you just use a rich moisturizer instead?

I have some old acne scars and am wondering if this would help get rid of them. I've been using a dermabrasion scrub for months now, and it hasn't seemed to make any difference with the scars, though it does make my skin softer.
