View Full Version : Is ceramic better for flat irons?

I've never posted before, so I'm not entirely sure how this works! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif Anyway, I have wavy, kind of dry, course, but light hair (flyaway and frizzy). I'm looking for a flat iron for straightening and am wondering if anyone has some advice on whether or not to go ceramic. I just bought a 1" Wigo professional which is what my hairdresser uses, but I am considering the ceramic instead. I saw that someone posted awhile ago that their ceramic didn't do a good job getting out the wavies, but I've also heard great things about them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

jenivy, I have the Chi ceramic iron and I love it! It is much better that the Gold'N'Hot one I use to have. My hair is wavy, very coarse with frizzy ends. It really makes my hair soft and straight. So, in my opinion, I think the ceramic irons are better. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I used to use the metal ones for years (gold n hot) and they were good but then I got a ceramic one a few months back and I really like it. It's the curlmaster one you can get it at sallys for 40 bucks. I really like the way the ceramic ones heat up so quick whereas the metal ones take awhile to reach the full temp. Based on my experience the ceramic one gives more shine than the metal one but it also gives more static but that's not a big deal to me.
