Hi ,
I have a quick question.
I have really really bad pains each month. I went to have a scan (external and internal) and it showed three cysts on my left ovary. One looked a bit suspect, it has debris or something whatever that means.
The thing is I can't have a Laproscopy due to other health probs that anasethic will make worse, so at the moment I have been diagnosed with Endometriosis.
The Dr doesn't reckon it's very likely I have overian cancer as he said it is extriemely rare (I am 27 yrs old with no children)
I am still unsure....with cancer is it probable to have 3 cysts or is it usually one cyst, I think the fact that I have 3 makes the Dr less worried.
Thanks
Leanne

Hi Leanne
Dont stress about Ovarian Cancer. At your age it is common for women to have multiple cysts in the ovaries, and these are usually functional cysts that disappear on their own. The one with debris could either be an endometrioma (endo in the ovary) or a corpus luteum cyst (normal). The debris is most likely blood. I am 48 and always had several cysts each time I had an ultrasound. One turned out to be an endometrioma which I had removed. What concerns them is if one of the cysts has multiple compartments inside it (septations), has developed its own blood supply, is irregular in shape, and has projections inside it.
They will check you again in a couple of months and hopefully all will be fine.

Thank-you for the reassurance.
I am going to have another scan in three months so hopefully all will be ok.
Thanks again.

 my name is Jennifer and im 31 yrs old . but at the time i was 28 yrs old and was having knife stabbing, doubling over pains in my right side . my dr took a scan and a MRI of my abdomen, just to find out i had an Ovarian Mass on my left Ovary, the pain on my right side was deferred from my left side .The Ovarian Mass was actually an Ovarian Tumor, which was the size of 6x9x6cm(the size of a small potato). so they removed my Left Ovary, it turned out to be i was diagnosed with stage 1 Ovarian Cancer.which is the earliest stage of cancer that can be detected by an ultrasound.i was very lucky i did not have to go thru any chemo or radiation. this all took place in 2001. then in 2002 i had to have my left Tube removed, cause it was very much inflammed. here it is 2004 and i am TTC my husband's and my 1st child and i had to go on Clomid ,cause i don't ovulate every month , only every other month.
so my prayers are with you and hope all is good for you !

You have been through quite a trauma.
I am glad they caught it though and that you have been able to have a child.
Something happened yesterday which worries me a bit again. I was spotting in between periods....then it went away but this month I was "on" for a week heavy as normal then it went away for a week but now it is back:( I have no pain but the blood is much darker (sorry for the detail) I have requested another scan from my dr. I have other hormone/thyroid probs...I wonder if this could cause all this??
