Hi, I just got tested on Friday and i'll be getting the results maybe this friday or next monday or however long it takes. I'm really worried. I've been extremely safe with all of my partners. But the thing is, I have two tattoos. I asked them if they used new needles and they said yes. I didn't see the second tattoo artist getting the clean one out. I think that I was freaked out or whatever but I don't remember. I did go to a shop and its not like I got it done from a friend. Anyways, Planned parenthood told me that I need to get tested. I'm really really scared. I'm a worrier and I don't know if it comes out positive. I will probably kill myself or something. :confused: I'm just waiting and waiting for the results to come back but its driving me crazy. Its going to ruin my life forever so Id rather not live.

Hi, I also am a worrier (like 28 on a scale of 1-10). I have a lot of tattoos and did see them open the new needles and I'm still freaking out about it. I'm trying to get the courage to get tested. I've been worried about the actual gun and tubing because it can't be sterilized. However, everyone has assured me that hiv dies very quickly on surfaces.

I do know that as long as the needles are new/properly sterilized there is supposed to be nothing to worry about. There has also never been a documented case of hiv being transmitted this way.

I'm sure that they did use new needles and you will be fine.

If you went to an actual Tattoo shop, then I am sure that they did use a new needle. And as the previous poster said, it dies very quickly when it is out of the body

Thanks you guys. :) You guys made me feel much better. Planned parenthood scares me for some reason. OMG, i'm so going to die for another days before I get my results. I've been having nightmares for the past few days. I don't even want to go to bed anymore. I don't like going through this. Some people do much riskier things but they don't even worry about anything at all. I wish I was more like them. SODEPRESSED, i am EXACTLY like you. I worry like 100000 times more than anybody out there. But I guess its better to worry than be sorry, right? i'll tell you what happens. just a few more days. Hope I can get it by Friday. If they don't have it by Friday, OMG!!! Have to go through the weekend!!! Thats just torture.

I have 7 tattoos, and I would never let ANYONE tattoo me that I didn't see open the needle and clean everything. I went to a tattoo shop that refused to open a new needle so I just walked out and went somewhere else. You have the right to ask them to open a new needle in front of you, and if they refuse then you can walk out. Your life is not something to mess around w/, and if there's something that makes you uncomfortable remove yourself from that situation.
