I've been diagnosed with GERD not too long ago, and I've gone from medicine to medicine...I'm currently on Protonix, but my GI doctor talked to me about possibly having to take steroids if the Protonix doesn't work, because my GERD may be a result of allergies? I'm still quite confused, and I do not want to take steroids for this problem. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? Let me know what your experiences are!

I've been on Prednisone since last March for my Autoimmune Disorder. (it's the only treatment for it) . I've been on high doses and now I'm down to 2.5 mg daily. It can be hard on the stomach. It has worsened my GERD. Also, do some research on the steroids before you take them. They do have many side effects. Good luck to you.
