I had a capsule endoscopy in July and never passed the capsule. I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with this. Evidently it only happens one percent of the time. I have an appointment next week with a surgeon to discuss options. I have Crohn's Disease and have already had multiple surgeries. Thanks

Hi There! Just wondering if you are referring to the pH Monitoring system capsule that they attach to your esophagus when they do the endoscopy? Im being scheduled for an endoscopy and I recieved a letter from my clinic stating I am a good candidate for the Bravo PH Monitoring system. Im going to have to have it in for 48 hours and monitor my acid levels in my esophagus that transmite to a pager type reciever Im to wear on my side pocket or where ever I can connect it to me. The capsule is spose to fall off several days after the procedure is over and pass through me. I guess reading all the literature on it. Even going to the website. I have not run across a side efffect that it may not pass through! If this is the same thing you had done please keep us posted as I would be very interested in knowing how they plan on finding and retrieving it. Good Luck to you! :)

The capsule endoscopy is a large capsule that is swallowed. It contains a tiny camera and broadcasts images to a receiver worn on a belt. I swallowed it in the morning and then returned about 8 hours later to return the belt. The procedure you are asking about is different. Good luck.
