Hi everyone!

As the subject said, looking for support. I recently purchased the home access kit, I should be getting my results by tomorrow or Wednesday. As with everyone I am very worried. I have researched hiv online as much as I can for the just in case. Some days I feel it will be negative, other days I'm like...my mess ups, it is pos. I am a lot smarter than I was 3 or 4 yrs ago. I did a few dumb things so it would only be my fault.

As for symptoms...oral thrush. I have had it 3 times in 2 yrs. The only thing one doc could tell me is that adults don't get it, that it is caused from a weakened immune system. Before she told me that she wanted to do a thrush test just to make sure, which I had thrush before and knew what it was. She also did a blood count, and my count was low. Luckily I have found a new doctor, she is great. She is the one that said I should get tested, I had planned on it anyway. Right now I have ringworm, I do not know how I got it, my dad had it after I told him that I had contracted it someplace. The doc prescribed cream, but instead of getting better it is spreading. I also have herpes type 1. I found that out at the ER one night when I was with my ex bf 5 months ago. It was in my genital area, I guess from oral sex maybe?

Anyway...that is some of my story. I hope the test comes back negative. If it does should I get a retest, just to make sure and for the peace of mind? I know that false positives and negatives aren't that common but I want to be certain. Thanks for reading!

aw good luck hun...i know how hard it is, i had my first test last year, vowed to never have unportected sex again and here i am a year later, waiting until novemeber to get tested. what helps me get through is remembering the fact that hiv is not an easy disease to get, although possible, and even if you do have it, there are so many meds out there to help prolong your life with many being researched as we speak....let me know how it goes, and hopefully i wont freak out and ill be able to keep you posted by nov.,but im really scared too:(

Just want to say have been positive for 16 years and still going strong. I do have many issues to deal with and get tired of dealing with them somtimes. Everyone be safe and smart these days. Life sucks and you just have to make the best of it. You will survive as many people do. good luck and just be smart.

have you retested at a different hospital? if your immune system is fine, then you don't have "aids". there is no test for HIV itself, only antibodies, and there is still no definitive proof that HIV causes AIDS. the test doesn't test for what it's supposed to, and what it tests for doesn't necessarily matter. i think that on this issue doctors have become increasingly unscientific and more like haitian voodoo witch doctors. the witch doctors sometimes point to a person during a ritual and say that they will die, which to a believer is truly a death sentence. reportedly the cursed usually dies in only two or three days, but it's purely psychological. don't let the doctors scare you.

pulling for you, brother
