View Full Version : What's wrong with my lips?

Since I have some fordyce spots(sebaceous glands) on my upper lip, I've been using Petroleum free lip balm. I hate using lip balm, I'm constantly rubbing it off because I dont like the feel of it when the balm dries off. I found this very old herbal lip balm at my work. It was probably there tossed around because it would'nt sell for maybe 5-6 years. I used it for 4-5 days, and liked it. Even with this balm, I constantly rubbed my lower lip with a cloth to rub off the balm until it burned me. After using this balm for several days, I felt a lot of small hard bumps on my lower lip only, there's none on the upper lips like them. Truthfully speaking they are extrememly hard to see, I know they are there because I can feel them. I would put my lower lip right up against the mirror and I'd still have a hard time seeing them unless I look at them with a very percise angle.

These bumps feel they are right on top of the skin, they dont hurt. To me sometimes they seem like some sort of residue is stuck on the lip becasue the bumps dont feel like they are part of the skin unlike my fordyce spots. I managed to rub a few of the bigger ones off with an eyebrow plucker. And they dont have a definite shape/color. They are different form the fordyce spots on my upper lip because when I run the plucker across the upper lip I cant feel anything, but when I run the plucker across the bottom lip, I can feel the bumps with the plucker and with my tounge.

If they are residue left form this old lip balm, why is it so hard to get off. Even when I rub them with the plucker they wont come off. I have to keep picking at a single one to scrape it off, and even that is difficult. Could this be the result of a lip balm, or something else due to my constant lip rubbing? Thanks for any help.
