I have 10 tattoos and just got tested eventhough I saw them open the new needles. I have since been told that "oh the gun could be contaminated because it can't be put into the autoclave". I know the virus dies in the air but my question for you is what have you heard about hep c and tattoos? It lives for much longer and if the gun can't be autoclaved then the virus could live on that and expose you. Have you ever been concerned about that or do you know anything about it?
Thanks!

Was this a concern after the first tatoo or any other. Did the concern start after the 10th tatoo? Because I was thinking if this was a concern for you then why would you continue getting tatoos?

It just became a concern. I always thought that as long as they use new needles there was nothing to worry about. It has just been brought to my attention that there is still a risk even with new needles. No, I wouldn't have continued to get them had I known. That was kind of a stupid question.

I've never heard of any one contracting Hep C or HIV from getting tattoos. I would say you're pretty safe going some where to get a tattoo done. The risk if any at all would probably come from getting tattoos at home or on the streets. But I don't know look at the CDC website and see if you find anything on the risks at tattoo parlors. I'd like to know myself. I've been tested since I got my tattoos but I am looking to get one more. But it's sure not risking your life over.
