Hello,

I am a 30-year old male and I have been having some troubling symptoms for a few weeks and it is my understanding that it can possibly be GERD. Here is the deal: For about 1 month I have been having the sensation of a lump in the back of my throat. It sort of feels like mucous but it doesn't go down. It does not affect breathing or swallowing at all ... in fact, eating seems to relieve it for a time. Sometimes it is the middle back of the throat, sometimes right, sometimes left .. it sort of moves around. Sometimes it is worse than others. At the times it is worst, I can feel a very slight slight pain in my back when I swallow.

My glands have been swollen under my jaw for a couple of days, however, that is going away and I think it is unrelated as this was something new and I did feel kind of crummy the day before they swelled up.

I do have frequent heartburn and stomach gas (you know that feeling that your chest is going to explode from gas in the stomach). And I have gone through this a couple of times times past, however, I do not remember it being this distracting.

Any help that you can give would be much appreciated!

- Ben

Sounds like it could be anxiety related. Have you been stressed out?

I had a problem for a very long time with something feeling like it was "stuck" in my throat. I was very worried. Anyway, I finally went to an ENT and he told me it was acid reflux that was irritating my throat. The only thing I found to work is Gaviscon liquid. Hope this helps.
