I would like to know if anyone has tried the cheaper self tanners, like the ones you can buy at Wal-Mart. I would like to try one, but don't want to turn orange. Any suggestions??

MelissaAnn 05-11-2003, 12:43 AM I would like to know if anyone has tried the cheaper self tanners, like the ones you can buy at Wal-Mart. I would like to try one, but don't want to turn orange. Any suggestions?? Sponsor maude&bandit 05-11-2003, 09:32 AM neutrogena is the best and you can get it at walmart. I bought the dark tanning spray and love it. It gives you the dark tan in one application. I tried a lot of them---no ad--avon ect. and by far love neutrogena the best. MelissaAnn 05-12-2003, 11:01 AM Thanks Maude&Bandit. I have one other question for you. Did you have to use a loofah before using the tanner, and how long did the "tan" last?? maude&bandit 05-12-2003, 05:04 PM I always have a bath before applying a self tanner and use a body wash net. That sort of works like a loofah. The neutrogena last about 5 to 7 days. I think it looks so real too. No streaks like some others. It also dries really quick. Let me know how you make out. maude&bandit 05-12-2003, 05:08 PM Just a little trick I use. I use surgical gloves to put on the self tanner. That way my hands stay clean. You can probbaly use rubber or even a baggie if you haven't got them. However you can buy them cheap at the store too. MelissaAnn 05-15-2003, 04:43 PM Thank you so much for the suggestion of using Neutragena's self tanner!!! I picked up the foam with the bronzer in it, and I love it!!! I didn't tell my hubby that I was doing it, and walked out of the shower all nice and tan, and he was impressed!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif I think I will use the gloves next time, tho!! hehe I gotta kinda tan palms right now!! lol Oh well, live and learn. I guess I thought I could get it washed off quick enough. But, thanks so much for your imput. aktick 05-18-2003, 10:44 AM How would this stuff look on a guy? 20 y.o. FWIW. Thanks. MelissaAnn 05-21-2003, 08:23 AM I think it would look fine on a guy. The color is so natural looking!! I was afraid of turning orange with it, and it's not orange at all for me. And, if you want darker results, apply it a couple days in a row. I really like it!! MzDietQueen 05-21-2003, 08:00 PM Hi Melissa, I currently use Coppertone Effortless lotion (med). I really like the color and I'm pleased overall with the results. However, I find it difficult to get my feet even. My toes & tops of my feet look pretty splotchy. I've been trying a few techniques and it's getting better. However, if the foam works better, I will definitely try it. How does the foam work on your feet & ankles?? Thanks ~Kim~ MelissaAnn 05-22-2003, 09:58 AM I really think that the foam is great on feet and ankles. I always make sure I don't overdo it on my ankles, elbows, etc. and it turns out just fine. I am currently using the foam with the instant bronzer in it. I love the color that the bronzer gives, and really wish the tanner itself would provide such a nice deep tan, but it doesn't. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif And, with the instant bronzer, you can't get wet AT ALL for at least an hour after you apply it, because it comes off very, very easy!! So, I end up taking a second shower about 2 hours after I have applied the self-tanner, because I really don't want to get caught in the rain, or sweat a little and have the bronzer start running down my face!!! lol So, I think the next time I purchase a self-tanner, I will go without the instant bronzer, but that is just MHO. MelissaAnn 05-22-2003, 10:00 AM MzDietQueen, Does the tanner you use work well on your face?? Because I don't think this foam does well on my face. |
