And I am scared poopless. 59 yo lady with family history of cancer there. Surgery is day after tomorow. Colonostmy very likely. Just found this site today and was looking at folks posts who had this done. If I live thru this thing, will come back looking for support, and if you never see me again, see you in heaven.

will come back looking for support
Hi Newbie Jodicar
Your surgery is pretty close, and I know that everyone reading your post is behind you, and I know I will be praying for the best possible outcome. There are alot of kind, caring people on this board, and you need'nt wait until after surgery to get some support. I hope you stop in before your surgery. There are several people on this board that have a colostomy, I mostly hear them say that it becomes a routine in their daily lives. Life continues.
A positive mind and a strong will can be the best medicine to help you along. Please stop back in and let us know how you are doing. Heaven can wait.
<cancer sucks!>
Best wishes, Julesss

jodi, I suppose you are in hospital as I type this. So this is for when you get home.
I have a colostomy (48 year old male, rectal cancer , surgery May 2001), any advice you think I can give, just ask.

I am also new looking for help and advise. I am a cancer survivor of colon cancer. I went through the same was told may need a colostomy but had a resection instead (many problems with digesting to this day but free of cancer- i hope) I have to go back for colonoscopy this month. You will live and I will looking forward to hearing from you so we can trade poopy stories. God bless you will talk to you later.
