For the last 5 months or so I've had a host of strange symptoms, none of which doctors have been able to diagnose. Among them is persistent tenderness/pain in my upper left abdominal area (liver area). Sometimes I also get pain in the back, am sensitive to fatty foods, get palpitations after eating, and the area is very painful when you press on it.
But all the tests have come out negative. Liver blood tests are good, ultrasound for gallstones is aok, upper GI x-rays look good. So if all's well, why is this continuing? I could blame it on stress, etc., if it was abdominal/digestive discomfort in general, but it's always the same area.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Just to clarify, the liver is on the right side. So is the pain on the left or right?

Big OOPS. I meant upper RIGHT side, eeek. I do know where my liver is, honest! Thanks for the replies and sorry about the confusion. If anyone knows what could be causing the pain on the right, please let me know. And blame my temporary insanity on something I ate :)

Upper right abdominal pain is usually your gall bladder! whether or not you have gall stones it can still cause us hassle! but having it out can make it worse sometimes rather than better so its a tricky one

Your appendix is also on your right side. Have they ruled this out also? You may want to be sure they look into that and possibly your gallbladder. Just a few suggestions!
