Anastacia15 05-04-2003, 09:51 AM Does anyone else have oily skin, and have any solutions to stop the shine? Do any oil control products really work?
The shisheido range is really great for getting that instantly clean feeling but it kinda goes after a couple of hours
GirlGirl 05-04-2003, 11:14 AM try a product called: "Clinac OC". It is over the counter but a bit pricey. The company that makes this is called Ferndale Labs. Just do a search on them and you can get the website. I have talked about this stuff before I think on the acne board. It is a gel type substance and you put a thin layer on your face. Let it set for about 2 minutes and then you can wear makeup on top. It is absorbed in the skin so it won't interfere with your makeup. You won't find it on the shelves of any drugstore but you will have to ask your pharmacist for it.
DeeDeeWith3 05-04-2003, 10:14 PM "Matte Scientist" by Origins is helpful in controlling shine prior to make up application. Geared for oily skins that need hydration but fear moisturizers!
Anastacia15 05-22-2003, 09:19 AM Thanks very much. Have you found a foundation that isn't too heavy, and that doesn't block pores but is great for hiding oily skin?
bebe27 05-22-2003, 09:56 AM I've just discovered the skin care line Erno Laszlo. Super pricey but I love it. It keeps my skin oil free and clear. In case you look into it and you are extremely oily, like I am, you would most likely be a 3:00 customer.
Let me know how you like it!!
2curiousforwards 05-22-2003, 03:35 PM I've had awesome success with the following products:
Origin's "Zero Oil"
Estee Lauder's Double-Matte Foundation
Phillips Milk of Magnesia - the plain kind (yes, the product for stomach problems) - used as a mask for 10-15 minutes
Plain baking soda as an exfoliator
Hope one or more of these suggestions helps!
Anastacia15 05-24-2003, 01:51 PM Thanks for your advice. Steaming is really great for oily skin, but to make it more effective have you tried adding 1 or 2 drops of lavender to boiling water (per litre), and using that to steam your face with. That is really great, and your skin feels super smooth.
Where can you get Erdo Laszlo (sorry if the spelling is wrong) from?
Origins do some really great face products don't they!
Has anyone tried the Body Shop's products for oily skin? They do products using extracts of seaweed which are really good, and really inexpensive too.
Anastacia15 05-24-2003, 01:52 PM Sorry i forgot to ask how do you use baking soda as an exfoliator?
cherilyn 05-24-2003, 06:35 PM Clinac OC by far is the best oil control product out there. tried alot of cosmetics oil control products always ending up to take them back.. it's ordered thru your local pharmacist (it's not over the counter) and it is WONDERFUL.. i hardly have to touch up during the day and that's a first for me.

poreoilyme 05-25-2003, 01:45 AM Clinac OC and Oc8 both help absorb the oil; however, to really stop it or see a significant decrease in oil, you need megadoses of B5 by mouth. It takes about 2 weeks to kick in, and then it's like a miracle.
I've not had one breakout either.
Oil blotting papers are also helpful and don't disturb your makeup like just blotting with tissues.

Anastacia15 05-26-2003, 09:37 AM Thanks very much. This is probably a really silly question but what is B5? IF we are talking about the vitamin i get it, however, if its something from the pharmacist can you tell me a little more about it?
I'm really into taking vitamin supplements at the moment and find just a general vitamin complex really helps to keep my skin healthy looking.
I tried using clearasil (i think that is how it is spelt) a while ago and found that it really irritated my skin, leaving it with a slight rash, and itchy feeling. Has anyone else had similar experiences?
poreoilyme 05-26-2003, 11:28 AM Please go to the acne threads to read more about B5 and the great results we are having from it to reduce oil and blemishes before they make it to the skin.
Anastacia15 05-27-2003, 03:04 PM Does anyone know where Clinac O.C can be obtained in the UNited KIngdom?
