Hey guys I have a question. I had orthognathic surgery October 14, 2003 on my upper jaw only. I have 4 plates & 16 screws in my jaw. For the past 5 weeks I have been having sinus pain. Do you think it has anything to do with my surgery because I am not congested at all I only have the pain.

I had a similar surgery years ago. I have had episodes of sinus pain ever since. The way the doctor explained it to me: 1) I might have had this pain before surgery, and just attributed it to the TMJ problems, 2) Whatever malformation that caused me to need the surgery could also be causing pain.
Having said this, you have been having pain for 5 weeks? That is a long time. It might be nothing, but a possible infection in or near your surgery site is not something to mess around with. Call your doctor and let them know what is going on. If nothing else, you won't have to worry anymore.
