Hi Everyone,
Sorry it's been so long since I've posted. College life has been in full swing as well as my doctors appts, etc. Anyways... here's my update.
I'm currently wearing my lower bite splint still, and I saw my specialist last weekend because it was loose, etc. He ended up added more to it to thicken it and it's now making my jaw come forward more than before. (I'm not sure I like the motion forward, but it's offering some relief).
I go back in 2 weeks to get a daytime splint that will be much easier to use/talk with etc. I know my bite is shifting and opening up a little bit, and I really do get depressed after all I went through to "fix that" 2 summers ago... but what am I gonna do, you know?
Anyways - my doctor also prescribed me ativan to take before I go to bed (2 1 mg tabs) and I have to say, I've never slept SO well in my life. I don't wake up with as severe headaches, etc. I thought that prescription seemed a bit weird after I looked up what it was normally used for, but like I said, I trust this guy a lot.
The last visit he spent an hour with me adjusting this splint, getting new molds taken for the next one, etc. I feel much more at ease about the whole situation, although I do have my days where it still frustrates me.
For those of you with bad neck and should pain, I know this seems weird, but I bought a pillow a couple of months ago - one of those memory foam ones - at Sams club and my neck pain has dramatically reduced. Just a thought for those of you who want to try something simple, if you haven't already.
So, all in all... things are slowly getting better here. I've been putting thousands of miles on my car driving back and forth to see this guy, but it's worth it. I hope everyone is doing well...
Take Care,
Andy

Hi Andy. Thanks for the update - I've been wondering how you were doing and hoped you would post. So far, I'm still doing ok - neck, shoulder, and head pain is basically nonexistent. But my bite continues to open as my mandbile moves back up into the fossa.
I see my ortho for my montly check-up next Tuesday. Next month will be one year that I've been wearing my upper repositioning splint 24/7. My ortho has me scheduled to see him until the end of Dec. and then I have the feeling it will be referral to the oral surgeon to "fix" my very open bite and realign everything. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
Keep posting - I like to hear how others are doing.
